Hi, I've been reading all your posts for about a month now and have decided to take the plunge and join!!

I'm 18 and i live in the north of France, have been here for nearly 8 years!!! I had my own horse, but he had to be put to sleep in 2005, at only 6yrs old. RIP Kephyr. miss him loads.

I've just started looking for another horse and found one i like the look of, but i'm not sure! It's a mare and foal, mare is 7/8 and hasn't been handled (but comes to humans and likes to be fussed!) and foal is about 3 months old. I don't mind a challenge! (I got Kephyr when i was 13 and as a 3yr old he was unbroken, unhandled and wasn't gelded). I have all the support i need and the facilities. I don't want a school master and i don't want anything fancy, just want a horse that in the end i can have fun on and maybe do a few local shows!

not an expert on foals so wouldn't like to say but there's something I like about dad....with a bit of spit and polish!

Not sure about mare, looks like she's been bred from again and again - especially if they're all in the same field together.

I do agree with you about the mare, i was thinking the same thing!! Just wasn't sure on my own judgement!! And with the dad aswell - I prefer him to the mare, but i don't think he's for sale!!!

Like most french people that have mares and stallions he probably did leave them in the field together - they don't think twice about doing that!!
 
i like the Dad - maybe without the dreadlocks though! Foals very sweet too- mare looks like she's been through alot!

Hello and welcome! Surely if the stallion is still in with the mare, the chances are she is in foal again? She looks like she has been a breeding machine (sorry don't mean to offend

). Cute foal, but why not get something you can ride straight away and not a mare with a foal at foot and possibly another one on the way?

I'm able to ride my instructors horses when i want to/when she asks me! I'm now ready for another horse, but don't want one that can be ridden, i'm not sure why just don't...sounds silly but i really feel as though i need to get soemthing younger that i can bond with.

I might find out if the frenchman will sell the foal when it is weaned because like you said the mare could be pregnant again as i definatly don't want 3 horses!!
