My 4yr old youngster has been broken in about 2months now hes 16.3 idxwb is it normal for them to be really really lazy i always imagined them to b a bit flighty when they first start out. He can also be a bit clumsy. thanks

Irish Drafts and warmbloods are both really slow maturing breeds, and yours is a big lad. Could it be he is finding work difficult and is still putting his energy into growing? Some horses are genuinely laid back throughout their lives though :) What sort of work are you doing with him? :)

Echo this response.
Slow to mature physically.
Usually have a placid calm nature too.
Both things combined as well as being young mean slower to respond to aids also.
Would say this is normal.

My 3yo WB x TB has been ridiculously laid back to back and bring on - count yourself lucky! The only time he ever showed any 'flight' response was when a nervous mare bolted up the school behind him, and even then he only cantered on a few paces before stopping and carrying on with working.:o
