hi bit of advice needed please.

My 4yr old youngster has been broken in about 2months now hes 16.3 idxwb is it normal for them to be really really lazy i always imagined them to b a bit flighty when they first start out. He can also be a bit clumsy. thanks

Irish Drafts and warmbloods are both really slow maturing breeds, and yours is a big lad. Could it be he is finding work difficult and is still putting his energy into growing? Some horses are genuinely laid back throughout their lives though What sort of work are you doing with him?

Slow to mature physically.
Usually have a placid calm nature too.
Both things combined as well as being young mean slower to respond to aids also.
Would say this is normal.

My 3yo WB x TB has been ridiculously laid back to back and bring on - count yourself lucky! The only time he ever showed any 'flight' response was when a nervous mare bolted up the school behind him, and even then he only cantered on a few paces before stopping and carrying on with working.

Im just hacking out 2 maybe 3 times a week for bout half hour and only schooled him when the weather was icy otherwise do all my schooling out hacking.
