I had an email back saying....

I am sorry that you have been disappointed with you most recent purchase of Hi-Fi Lite. Basically due to the natural variation we experience in our feeds unlike something like a coarse mix they do not always fill the same ‘volume’ in a bag or feed bin. The alfalfa that we use in the Hi-Fi Lite is a naturally leafy plant and to produce a nutritionally consistent product we have to blend different ratio’s of alfalfa leaf and stalk so it can vary from bag to bag. Sometimes this can mean that the Hi-Fi Lite may contain a little leafier material that is denser than the stalkier material and therefore doesn’t fill the bag in the same way. I hope I have gone some way to explain the reason for the variation. If you are unhappy with this bag of feed in any other way then please could you send a sample (about a scoopful) along with the batch number and best before date to the Freepost address below: -

Is anyone going to send off a sample? I'm still not completely satisfied. If we are getting a less amount in the bags surely its not value for for money?

But I think they are saying it is less by volume but not by weight. So if you paid for a 20 kg bag you still get 20 kg but because the product is more dense it doesn't take up as much space.

If, however, you found that you were sold a bag marked as 20kg and you got less than 20kg in it, you would have a case.

surely Dengie are saying that they change the content (less or more stalks) so that the nutritional values remain the same? And I assume the bags still weigh 20kg - mine seemed pretty heavy when I heaved it out of the car! I may be wrong though.

I bought a new bag today and it was as full as any other bag ever purchased by me. The only differences I ahve found are the colour - sometimes being a little darker. If they change it to keep the same nutritional value and you are feeding it by weight as you should, I see no problem. Admitedly I feed by scoop and not daily weight too.
