Has anyone else had a horse/pony with very loose droppings when feedng new Hi Fi Lite, stinks of chocolate/vanilla, Hi Fi not droppings!

Jane

I think that many horses were refusing to eat it... Dengie have brought out a great new product though, HiFi molasses free... now that is eaten with relish!

Both of mine love the new vanilla covering, all eaten with gusto and lovely tidy droppings...could it be something else in the diet? Otherwise, give Dengie a call, they are really helpful!

I thought that the smell of this lastest bag was lovely! Wonder why they've done that? Haven't noticed any change to the droppings or the condition of the horses, and they've been on it 3 weeks now I think.

Has anyone fed the new dengie molasses free? Hasn't it got pellets in it too? Was wondering if it could be fed as a whole feed instead of adding pasture mix to 3 good doers that are hardly working, and don't really need any feed at all!

I've just bought a bag of the no mollasses stuff and much prefer it to the hifi lite! It's free running (not clumpy and sticky with mollasses), smells lovely, soaks up water well and they seem to really like it. It does indeed have pellets in it (but not huge amounts). I feed it as a complete with a general supplement. Why are you feeding the pasture mix anyways? You have to feed a ridiculous amount to give all the RDA vits and minerals.

Taz is on the hi fi lite and he seems to eat it better now that its a new bag, but he does get it with speedi beet, cool mix and his farriers formula, seems strange that your horse has changed since being on the new stuff, I would give dengie a wee phone they are usually always very helpful

Yes.

Glad you posted this, I buy it all the time but one of the bags I bought a few months back, it had a different smell, a real sickly sweet smell, you could smell it on your hands for ages and it made them both loose, in fact I think I posted something on here about it asking if they had changed the ingredients slightly but the last couple of bags have been normal.

My boy was on hi-fi lite and he tended to only have really loose droppings if he had a huge clump of mollasses in his feed, I just scooped whatever was in my bin and sometimes it had clumps in. And then it clicked, he had loose droppings because he is sugar intolerant, but he is only sugar intolerant if he gets huge amounts in one hit. So it could be that when your putting a scoop in his bowl, in the middle you may have clumps of it, because too much sugar in one hit isnt good for any horse, so perhaps just filter it all to be sure your not getting massive clumps of it.

I know that sounded awful but didn't know what other way to explain it!

No but my horse doesn't like it, it does smell very sweet but he just doesn't like it so am going back on Alfa A lite or the new un mollassed version

Yes I'm umming and aaaaring about that one or the alfa a lite version, think its because they've added mint, my horse loves the alfa a lite normal

I reckon it would be ok, but add a vit and min supplement
