so, part of my haffie's feed includes allen and page fast fibre which he's fine on.. and i recently got a mare which i'm going to give her some baileys hi fibre cubes as part of her feed.....

.....so what i'm wondering is.. what's the difference ?!?!?!?!

I know fast fibre needs soaking and i put water with the hi fibre cubes and they don't swell up too much just wondering if there's actually any difference between the two ?!?!

Thanks :)

Basically there is more fibre, 28% to 20% in Fast Fibre than Baileys, similar DE, less protein in FF , Baileys do not declare the sugar and starch in their feed but do put molasses in which FF does not have, it is 5% starch 2.5% sugar which is very low and safe for those at risk of laminitis.

I would use the same feed for both, if the new horse loses a bit of weight top up with some oil or linseed as required.

What a coincidence, I recently moved from FF to Baileys High Fibre Cubes with my Welsh Section A. I don't like feeding anything dry so decided to soak the cubes and I have found the same amount of both types of cubes (by the cupful, not by weight) and the same amount of water, the Baileys cubes turn to sludge but I wouldn't consider it swelling exactly, whereas the FF definitely swells to produce a larger amount.
I always use boiling water to soak feed it makes a huge difference, feed does not swell nearly as much mixed with cold water IME.
My pony much prefers the Baileys cubes and I've found he has better energy levels (he can be a lazy swine), and I think his coat condition is a little better. As much as I liked FF I'm not sure I'd go back to it now for him.
