Hi everyone, I am new here and as I will most likely be spending the bulk of my posting time in the breeding section, I wanted to say a big g'day to everyone!

We run a small sport horse stud in Masterton, New Zealand and stand three stallions. We are a bit of a boutique establishment as take limited outside mares and only breed one or two (or three) foals ourselves every year.

We have three stallions. A Clydesdale (we breed purebred Clydesdales but allow him to cover outside mares of other breeds), an Irish Sport Horse and a New Zealand Stationbred.

I look forward to getting to know you guys and learning and sharing lots of great stuff on here.

Cheers!

Hi ,welcome aboard

Welcome! I'd best not let my OH see this post though - we have just done the supermarket trip with him telling me just WHY he wants/needs a Clydesdale as well....!

Look forwards to more photos.

Hi and welcome! And very pleased to see a Clydie stallion ... we have my daughters's "wonder horse", who is Clydesdale x (???) possibly Connemara, possibly a bit of TB in there .... but VERY recognisably Clydesdale. He's an absolute sweetie, and jumps like a stag!

Hi

I love Reilly - what is his breeding ? I also love the scenery in your blog. I got a job as a track rider many years ago in NZ but didn't go as decided to marry my OH instead

I still hanker to go there one day soon hopefully

Everyone loves the Clydies and for good reason! Such neat horses

Initially we started with using a clydesdale stallion to breed our first foal (out of a TB mare) and then we got our first purebred mare and, well it kind of snowballed from there! We recently sold our first purebred foal. We had intended to keep her and her full sister but personal circumstances have somewhat stepped in. She's gone to a fabulous home where she is destined to become a dressage star (of all things) with a very talented rider who has been a friend of mine for over 20 years. I can't wait to see them both out setting the dressage world alight

Thanks! I loff him too, he's my little super star. He's just about to turn four and I am bringing him back into work after two months off over winter (he was broken in late last season) today! He's a dude and there is quite a long story behind his life to date. He's by a very lovely and talented NZ stallion called Mighty Heights (4* Event/GP SJ) out of a beautifully bred NZTB mare, he's 7/8 TB.

What a lovely warm welcome

by Silent Hunter?

I had a lovely Mamaku bred Silent Hunter mare - bred an absolutely stunning filly out of her. Tragically we lost her this year (April), she was a rising 6yo. I still think she was the best I have bred and can't believe she is gone

- We're not far from Mamaku and know the Meyers. Will be watching Joe ride this afternoon with my heart in my mouth

(well, will have my heart in my mouth watching everyone ride!!!)

Is your girl branded? If she is, let me know what the brands are and I will be able to confirm her age for you. My girl is still alive (21 years now) and had her last foal last season - I gave her to a friend who breed her to one of my stallions. The foal is just lovely.

Silent Hunter sired a number of exceptionally good jumping horses, including Dan Jocelyn's long time mount 'Silence'.

yes she is branded but is away currently, i have her passport etc with her birthdate in, juts cant remember it off the top of my head, she is branded on the shoulder and quarters
