Hi everyone,
Long post tea and buscuits required!
Have been lingering for a couple of weeks and getting addicted so thought I would introduce myself. So a bit about me. I'm 29 and live in Hertfordshire with my 3 yr old daughter. I've loved horses for as long as I can remember. I used to beg my mum and dad for a pony and used to think they were the worst parents ever for not buying me one but when I look back now as they are not 'horsey' people I am so glad they didn't! I knew nothing even though I thought I knew it all!lol I'm thinking about doing my BHS exams next year it's something I always wanted to do but there was nowhere really to train around here when I was younger that I knew off but seem to be a few now (although any recomendations would be good?).
About my horse she is a 14.2 9yr old coloured mare called Bam Bam. I wasn't looking for a horse when I bought her but a friend of mine knew of a lady who had a riding school and had lost her grazing so was desperately trying to find homes for her ponies. Unfortunetly a few ended up a bit neglected including my mare and I bought her in a bit of a bad state. She had wintered out wth hardly any food, hay or shelter, she had bald patches, a really long coat and was really under weight and I probably paid far to much for her but she is worth every penny and sooo much more!
I backed her a year later, then the following summer found out I was pregnant so she was only in light work then unfortunately the following year she got Laminitis so we were stop start for a couple of years but then I got her working nicely but then because I by then had a young daughter (who didn't want to sit in her pushchair and watch mummy go in circles anymore)I put her on loan for two years to a lovely family who have been having great fun doing clear rounds and local shows with her and she is doing really well. She is one of those ponies who anyone and everyone can do anything with her, she is one in a million and I love her dearly!
She is due home in a couple of months and I can't wait I have missed her soooo much. I better get some lessons and brush up on my riding as I have not ridden now for nearly two years and I have no excuse not to get out and do some local shows which I have never done! So an exciting year I hope ahead and I'm sure I will be on here asking lots of advice and sharing all my ups and downs with you!
Look forward to talking to you all xxxx

Hello Bambino - I'm a newbie too and can vouch for the addictive nature of this site. In fact the Horse and Hound forums are pretty much cyber-crack!!

oh my god, totally addictive! i only joined a day ago, and cant seem to tear myself away! my OH calls me a horse geek, and im rather proud of that title (i think he feels a bit neglected though!)
