Hello all:)

Just wondering how do you know if you need a new saddle?
My saddle has started to slip to the side a lot. Someone told me i don't have the girth tight enough but i've tightened it as tight as I can but it doesnt seem to make a difference, still slips to the side
I am aware that my pony has gained weight which I know could be the problem (I'm working on getting it down)
I always seem to feel crooked in the saddle which is so annoying !:(

So, I've been looking at the Hi-lite Elite Club GP self-adjusting synthetic saddle from shires and wondering, if I should need a new saddle are synthetic ones as good as leather ones?

Or maybe I should wait and see until I get his weight down ??

What do you guys think??

Thank you
Olivia :)

Well a friend inherited a Hi Lite saddle with her new horse and hated it, it also slipped to the side, and she said it was very uncomfortable - she part exchanged it pdq!

I would wait until she has achieved the desired weight, then get your saddler out. Bear in mind a second hand leather can cost the same as a new synthetic, but down to personal choice. Also a synthetic with changeable gullet is still better fitted by a saddler, who will also be able to ensure the right gullet is fitted.

In the meantime you could get a grippy numnah and hunting style breatsplate, and would suggest mounting from a block where possible.
