hello!

i need some advice.

im currently losing alot of weight. i lost alot a few years ago and sadly put it all on after my mums death.

I used to ride when i was younger, but stopped at 12.

The last time i was in a stables i was 18 stone a few years ago. The women was convinced i didnt weigh that much [i carry well lmao] and wanted to get me back on a horse. I refused as i was way too heavy.

Anyway, i have just got my daughter whos 5 into a stables. shes rode a few times before but this time will become a regular thing. My dream is to ride together. But because of my bone structure, my goal weight is 13stone. I have read on here about people thinking this is much to heavy for a horse to carry, and now im worried i will never ride again. :(

what shall i do? i can not wait to get back on a horse, to help tone up and get healthy. But i have visions of me getting on and the poor horse falling or refusing to move! HELP!
lucky my daughter is tiny and slim and nothing like her mum!

12 possibly 12.5 for a short period is the heaviest I'd put on mine. But she's a TB.
13 stone is definitely not an impossible weight for a fit horse. A well built cob could carry you at 13 stone with ease.

Horses for courses as they say...

You might not realistically ride a little thoroughbred, but my BF gets on my TB x Section D and he's 13.5st. Not everyone would approve, but there's something out there to suit you. Take a look at this thread and chase your dreams. There's no reason why you can't.

Hello :)

Don't worry, you are definitely not too heavy to ride. In fact, in last week's H&H they mentioned a lady event rider who is 13st 7lb. I should think you could find something smaller than 17hh that you could ride. I'm 5'1", so filled with horror at the idea of getting on something that big...not so bad if your head is a little further from your feet, I guess :p
