Hi-viz and horses

Yellow and orange tabard with lots of useful pockets (under £5 from ebay)
Yellow quarter sheet
Yellow leg bands
Yellow hat band
Orange ear covers (horse, not me ;))

I like to wear a mixture of orange and yellow as I find one can be better than the other in certain lighting.

Here are the orange ears. On some of our hacking routes we have to cross main roads and the crossings can be quite overgrown. I hope the orange ears make us easier to spot. Also they should make him more visible if god forbid I ever fall off and horsey ends up loose on the road.

4 pink reflective leg bands, a couple of pink rein bands which I put on the cheekpieces instead as going out in hand at the mo, and a hi viz vest... thinking I might get a hi vis fleece actually as would be just the right amount of warm for me. I only go out in daytime but it can be very grey!

Would quite like a quarter sheet but nothing fancy, Are you asking from a business point of view? They would be pretty cheap to make, I think equafleece are nice quality but just seems expensive for a bit of hi vis fleece! http://www.equafleece.co.uk/store/quarter_sheets.html

My horse is hairy so don't really want anything too warm on her.

I also think it would be good if you got lights that were as bright as bike lights to attach back and front somehow!

I see what you mean from the link, yeah it is from a business point of view I have looked in to the lights similar to whats on horse box white facing forward red behind.

Lee- I do about 3 times a week after work- tracks, fields and one village road. Flashing lights, the lot. The jacket and trees on the pic are rockfish riders ones. I have equisafety ones too...

Here's the driving shot... On his head is a Sam brown belonging to me!

Sorry- cant quote as on iPhone x

I wear Polite tabard, horse wears Polite boots all round, and a quarter sheet generally. But recently the sheet si an issue (my "bit special" horse has decided she is scared of them, so gcant even get it on ) But have a mesh one for summer and a waterproof/fleece inside for winter.

It made me realise how important it is to wear hi vis when I accidently sped past 2 horses for the first time the other day. Was on a 60mph back road, bright sunshine about 10am. Both dark bay horses, in dark tack/numnahs and riders in black/brown. I did not see them until I got to them! My horse is dark bay and that to me makes me think it is even more important to wear at least some form of hi vis!

I wear some HI Viz even when off the road, after reading the stuff on the BHS website about the air ambulance being able to find you. I wouldn't ride in the dark by choice EVER, but once hacked back from a show at dusk and had hi viz plus two head torches, one of which has a red light, so I wore it on the back of mt hat.

On bright days it's just me in Hi Viz, on gloomy ones it's the horse as well if we are going on the road.

Ex sheet with a red bike light on back, four polite leg bands, hi vis brushing boots and or boots, polite necklace, flashing blue led bands on legs, necklace and rear of ex sheet.
Want something for front that is lit up too on browband.
I have a boot light, reflector on boots, hivis jacket or waistcoat, flashing horsewear tabbard, reflective headband and a torch.
I want a red to rear, white to front flashing light to go on my hat.....a really bright one....

Love the ears - where did you get them from?

I wear:
Polite tabard
Hi-viz hat cover

He wears:
Depending on the weather - a yellow thermatex exercise blanket if dry and cold, or a hi-viz waterproof fleece lined exercise sheet if wet and cold, and I have just bought the Equisafety winter exercise sheet, but I took the front breast-thingy off and just put it round his neck which seems to work a bit better. I also have some bright orange exercise bandages that he sometimes wears if very dull, but I might replace them with some Polite leg bands.

I sailed past a horse this morning in my car, didn't see it at all until I was level. Luckily I wasn't driving fast as the roads were very icy. The rider was wearing a tabard, which is all I wear, but had pulled her big black horse hard against a big black hedge through which the sun was shining. Luckily I didn't scare the horse but it made me think - plan ahead on corners if you are riding (she was in the hedge just past a band), and always assume you can't be seen.

I wear a hi-viz hat band and a tabard (got an i-quip recently, so I'll be wearing that once I get hacking again).

Pony wears a neckband, leg bands and hi-viz headcollar under his bridle. I'm going to get reflective strips for his new combination bridle.

I'm looking for a headtorch and leg light for if I go out at night, I only hack during the day at the moment.

When he's being led to his field he wears this:

I wear:
Hi vis tabard in pink that says 'Please pass wide and slow'

Horse wears:
Equisafety yellow neckband
yellow leg bands x4
Equisafety yellow exercise sheet in the winter
Parson's Rump in orange with extra dayglo in the summer

I'm planning on getting something long-sleeved too, and looking at some hi vis boots for the boy as I get fed up with putting boots and leg bands on - gettng ready takes forever!

I'm liking the idea of the hi vis headcollar with the bridle - my lad spooks at anything on his bridle..

Two questions:
What colours do people think show up best?
Do you think that writing ie passing instructions on your clothing make any difference? I've seen a few professional standard hi vis fleeces etc that look nice and are a lot cheaper - but no writing...

I don't think writing makes too much difference tbh! I wear a tabard that says 'please pass wide and slow' but there's always some people who still zoom past!

I wear: tabard, hat band
Horse wears: leg bands, exercise sheet- if it's really dull

Yes, I seem to find myself shouting "what is it about wide and slow
that's not clear?" after them. Poor horse is just used to it now (and bless him, he never flinches when big lorries and buses whizz past very fast).

this is minus my ponies pink rug my palominos horzhat and his flashing leg s like police have
also his other bridle has browband and rein hiviz on them
