Hi all, this my seem like a really stupid question but i've recently bought the 'Polite' hi viz jacket and realised how much brighter it was and how it stands out more than my old jacket.
My horse goes out with leg bandages on at the moment and me wearing my jacket, although i have realised reading other threads that, were we to part company
my horse isn't necessarily easy to see without me on board, so I was thinking about an Exercise Sheet for him, but has anyone had trouble if its windy for example with them flapping
this is my main concern as dont fancy going down the road at 100 mph looking like a hi viz propelled rocket but at same time i do think they
are good at making the back end stand out so to speak? - there is also a numnah that looks good as well, but just wondering peoples opinions and experiences?

apologies if this is a dufus question but have never used one in my years riding apart from sheets on ex racers so just wondering what people had experienced

thanks

If you get a wrap around one that can get wedged under the saddle. They also have fillet strings so just adjust them. Don't think mines gone haywire!

I've been out in a gale in mine and I was nervous that it would upset my horse (not the sanest thing) or those belonging to the people I was with would flap and bother him. But then I realised the people I was with weren't even thinking about it so I just got on with it and it was fine ;)

They cope with flapping rugs in the field so really should be expected to manage, though I guess each is different. It is a massive patch of yellow though so I think they're really very good for visibility and well worth it if possible. The thicker it is, too (lined, waterproof etc) the less likely it will balloon.

I too worried about the same. My little TB was a bit of a headcase at times but I bought a Mark Todd wrap around type and it was brilliant, It moved very little as the saddle anchors it, My legs went over it and the fillet string strap is positioned low enough to hold it down quite firmly.

Mine hasn't even bothered when my fleece sheet came over my head on a particularly blustery day!! And he's a sharp TB...

Some seem to fasten better than others, though - I'd recommend ones with the lowest possible filet string attachments as there is less rug below the filet string to flap about... this has been my experience.

Thanks both! lol glad yours isn't hay wire holeymoley and you make a good point floxie - my lads not totally nuts but like you say was jsut wondering what hed be like if it flapped a lot but he copes in the field with gale force winds and doesn't bat an eye lid so really he has no excuse - i would defo get the lined one like you say and as you say its more of a block of colour so shoudl catch the eye of road users sooner rather than later, thanks guys - mind set at rest a little more!

I have the fleece exercise sheet, which is more or less waterproof as well, as the heat from the horse drives off the moisture. I think they also do a half sheet that attaches to the saddle only. Would recommend.

I have a luna rider waterproof fleece lined hi viz exercise sheet which is the wrap around style, and never had a problem with it flapping even in high winds in the 4 years I've had it.

Have also recently bought a plain exercise fleece from shires, and that doesn't flap either.

I have the equafleece quarter sheet that attaches to the girth and sits behind the saddle. It is great and you can roll it up and clip it behind the saddle if the horse gets too hot. I also have the mesh quarter sheets from v bandz in both pink and yellow. these are really good as my lad is a hot horse so is good in all weather. And I have a waterproof quarter sheet from vbandz that isn't fleece lined but doesn't rustle.

Oh no, shouldn't have looked at this thread - I was considering getting a fleecey exercise sheet and now I have seen the equafleece recommendations there will be no stopping me! I'm unsure whether to go for the standard exercise sheet or the quarter sheet - does anyone find that the standard one slips back at all?
