Hello, I'm after a new set of hi viz for me and the horse :) I need a wrap around lined rug, a vest and a pair of legwraps. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have got the shires version of these and find them great as can be used with or without boots and wash v easily:

Can help with the sheet.

One thing I would say is that get a tabard or a zip up waistcoat as velcro fronted waistcoats end up undone and you then become less visible from the front :) I use one that is for joggers, has pockets and zips up :)

Ive got the jacket and it does slow the traffic down very effectively, probably due to the fact drivers think I am the Police. I once had a car slow down and tell me he thought the driver in front had been drink driving!! My horse has the Mark Todd wrap around ex sheet which is good and cut away where your leg goes. We do alright wearing these items.

One of these.. (ETA- in pink. I got one because I find that sometimes, if a horse shoves its head up or has a naturally high head carriage, it can obscure a drivers view of your tabard/jacket from the front)

Also, I've recently bought a new pink tabard, just because the colour stands out so much better, the yellow can sometimes blend in with hedges.
I got this one, has a handy pocket for phone/key...

And pink leg bands, and a yellow exercise sheet with tail flap for when it's raining/colder, esp use when hacking out during winter.

V bandz do a good range of hi-viz although the old style mesh sheet is better than the new one, but as you aren't after a summer one that doesn't matter. ;) I love my V bandz tabbard as it has a pocket which is really handy.

Luna Rider do wrap around exercise sheets, they often have them on ebay and equestrian clearance.

The mark Todd range also has a wrap around hi-viz exercise sheet.

V-Bandz stuff is good.

I have an equisafety polite tabard - but only because it has a really good zipped pocket for my phone and my equafleece jacket is too hot in summer. I very rarely go on the roads but when I do I am obvious (like Bertie Bassett LOL). Otherwise I always wear something bright as they shoot deer in the woods I hack in and I'm always on my own so makes sense. The polite reflective strips are not great, but some of the other equisafety stuff is good, look for the EN number.

Oh - Aldi have some bands on special tomorrow. When I used to hack out at night I used these on the Horse's legs. They are fantastic!!

haven't got any specific recommendations on brands for the bits you're looking for but if you haven't got one I get many comments on how visible my v-bandz branded hat band is from a long distance!

I also really like a mixture of reflective & flourescent, had to break very rapidly on the road the other day for a black horse that I only saw due to it's reflective leg wraps  road had a 50 limit and I wasn't even doing 40, fortunately was on other side of the road and spotted it but even so ...!

I'm currently looking for different colours as I've noticed that orange and then pink are showing up better at this time of year and I usually wear yellow but have added one of these to my set http://www.lyndashorsewear.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9870025, very bright :D

I would check what ever you by its EN1150 Or EN471 Endorsed.

A lot of the polite range isn't - EN1150 can either be satisfied by the minimum area of background and retroreflective materials or, depending on the height of the wearer, the combined performance area.
