normally when hacking I just wear t shirt, body protector and hi viz tabbard, but now winters coming obviously will be wearing lots of layers over body protector, so was looking at getting a hi viz jacket instead of having to wear coat and hi viz tabbard :) sooo anyone know where I can get a hi viz light weight jacket (waterproof/showerproof) pref pink :D with writing on back (please pass wide and slow etc etc) that doesnt cost a fortune?!

I have a Shires one which is the warmest jacket I own. I can't remember how much it was but I don't think it broke the bank.

I also have a pink Rockfish Riders one (that should have been expensive but I found it in a half price sale).

Somewhere like the Dickies catalogue will have cheap ones, only problem is that they won't have any writing on the back.

Well...there's Equisafety but I *don't* recommend them at all. So this is more a 'What not to buy' comment from me....
I've got one from them and it is *the* worst jacket. Supposed to be showerproof but it completely isn't. Turns out a lot of people I know have found the same.

Just a thought on the writing on the back...There is a shop in my town that puts writing on tabards and things, also a stall/stand on the indoor market, I dont know if that sort of place will do coats but it's worth looking into.

I love my Rockfish high viz jacket (it's pink) as so comfortable to wear as well as being fully waterproof/wind proof. Sadly I don't think it will fit anymore :(

Rockfish is definitely going on my list to have a look at. Not really seen any of their jackets in person so hadn't considered one. I just want a bright, WARM, DRY winter jacket! :p

if you have a ALDI close by they have got pink & yellow lightweight hi viz in for £19.99 , they are for cycling but fine for horse riding
also have hi viz rainlegs , great if you are caught out in a shower while out hacking

The Rockfish jackets are great, but they don't do hi-viz on their website any more. Does anyone know where you can find them, other than the odd one that comes up on ebay (never in my size!)? I bought one a few years ago and have worn it constantly ever since, it is brilliant and so well fitting but I wish I'd stocked up!

I have an equisafety but wouldn't recommend it, terrible fit (for me personally anyway!) and their customer service is awful in my experience.

Strange isn't it ? On their website they never refer to the hi viz range or clothing lines in the origins of the company.
My jacket is getting old now and I haven't found anything designed for the needs of horse riders that compares with the Rockfish. Shame.

Lunarider again here - they do three versions, a padded bomber style, and closer fitting lightweight with a very good hood which fits over your riding hat, and a lightly padded gilet. All have plenty of pockets only comes in yellow though. Distributed through Westgate EFI, stockists should be on the website.

I brought my new Hi-Viz jacket riding jacket in the summer sale - a yellow Belstane (Country Essentials) fleece lined and very well fitted jacket, two zip pockets, two-way zip, hood and waterproof (already tested ;) ) - cost the princely sum of £25 plus delivery BARGAIN!! (found it though a Facebook horse group).

:)

Mine came from SCATS (agricultural store) This years model was in the sale for £7.50. I have had several before and they are very warm and dry. My YO also wears them over any expensive coat. No writing on back though. Full price they are about £21

I may have to pop in to my local SCATS and have a nosey!

I have a Rockfish Bodywarmer and Waterproof jacket, which i got half price from Go Outdoors a couple of years ago, but i can't seem to find them anywhere now. Im wondering if they have stopped making them, which is a shame as they were great.

Agree with the poster who said about the Aldi cycling gear, just as good for riding in and very reasonable too.

Have you thought about workwear retailers- normally stock all hi-viz especially coming into winter a lot can also add printing to most items - I've had quite a bit of personalised embroidery done at our local one for a fraction of the price that you would pay elsewhere x

Hi JonD. while its lovely that you cater for disasters, and quite honestly, we have plenty on here, but you failed to say in your advertising garb, if you make jackets specifically for horse riders. We can get workman's gear anywhere.
