Hi-viz question

Agreed Jessticle.

I wouldn't go the whole hog, but if a marking slowed a driver down a bit quicker and made them drive more sensibly, I'd happily take it!

Why risk safety because of a risk of how you look to someone else

Why do they take the pee? Because visual associations should be kept clear and unambiguous if they relate to the law, or to medicine for that matter. Especially as some locations, including South Norfolk, will be having mounted PCSO/Specials in the near future.

I have a PhD in history. I don't pass myself off as a medical Dr. Distinctions in these areas are important. Plus I don't think the manufactures should make a profit on trading in on something that is essentially dishonest.

I don't know, but I suspect they are not so much 'police endorsed' so much as 'police tolerated'.

Finally, personally, I think it just looks naff.

From your link - v interesting. ;)

I am the Director of Equisafety and I can confirm the Polite range is NOT illegal, the person that complained to the ASA is assosiated with a competitor, we have written proof of this.

Yep, Faracat, I know. I wasn't trying to imply that the police had complained to the ASA ...

Another anecdote from that link of a police officer who clearly doesn't like them:

"unfortunately, a police officer stopped me and told me and in a aggressive way to remove my polite tabard. he said I could be arrested for impersonating a police officer. when I stated it said polite not police, he didn't care. I told him I was NOT removing it as it was legal and he should check his facts. I rode on, but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Stripper grams don't get arrested for impersonating a police officer do they! why should I when my tabard doesn't even say police? ive gone back to wearing normal high viz now though, because he really put the scarers on me."

This isn't a mission of mine - it just whenever I see them in ads or round the yard they really make my teeth jangle.

I don't think that me and my little grey could ever be confused with a real police officer & police horse, partly because I have a pink tabbard. ;) The main reason that I'm not keen on the plain yellow sheet, is because I already have it in a bigger size and I want to be able to quickly know what size I'm grabbing from the tack room.

I do still have my old yellow tabbard, so I could get the pink sheet and still have a pink/yellow mix.

Well, that makes a lot of sense! I think the pink might look dashing on your arab too!

Faracat- I was taken by surprise when someone said they had mistaken me and my 14.3 arab as mounted police & horse, that did make me chuckle, particularly as he was snorting at a bush at the time. And that was with just plain yellow high vis, they'd probably have been absoloutely convinced we were police if I'd been wearing the 'Polite' range :) And back to your original question, I'd personally go for the plain yellow which is what I have :)

That's quite wonderful. :D

Well, after dithering for an age... I have ordered the pink one. :D

So I need to dig out the yellow tabard. I also have yellow leg bands and a yellow hatband, so if the sheep don't see us coming - I will give up! :p
