OK So answer me this one? Why do people hacking out on the roads wear a hi viz tabard with 'HORSE AND RIDER' printed on it? Do they think that other road users are totally thick? Doh it is a horse and rider not anything else!

I am getting one that says 'Kill you speed. Not my horse'
Quite honestly i dont really give a damn what it says as long as its brite and people can see me.

I think the person driving past me who's spending more time looking at what my tabard says, than the road, deserves to end up in a ditch.

as long as it's hi-viz, i don't care what it says. i just hope it has some effect on drivers!
i've stuck an L sticker on one of mine now for when hacking out baby horses, i don't care if the driver thinks i'm the Learner or the horse is, as long as it makes them slow down a bit...

That's what mine has on it. I have had a horse killed with me on the roads so it does mean something to me.

I got my friend one which said I have PMS and..... something else, DRIVE SLOW! or something along those lines, got it as a joke, but also cause she needed a new tabard, and it was pink!!!

so long as you are seen, think thats all thats important!

btw I like the L sticker for baby horses!

I agree with all the comments but had to smile the other day when I passed a lady out on a hack wearing a navy blue coat (so not even hi-viz) which said 'Rider' on the back..... I thought, no - really...?!

Mine says "caution horse & rider" - I couldn't find one that just said "caution" and I didn't want one that said "please pass wide & slow" as I don't want one that comes across as bossy!

TBH it was the only one I could find with plastic clips on the sides and not the dreaded elastic!

With some horses and riders you might not be sure whether please pass wide and slow was a request or a description.....

Not just me that thought that then!

Mine has a building firm on the back - no idea where it came form.

My tabard has 'horse and rider' on it but purely because it was a gift, otherwise i would just have a plain hi viz tabard. Have to admit to turning it inside out when long reining my shetland though being as it most definately isnt a case of horse and rider then!

I might look a daft but I wear a police style hi Viz jacket and it seems to really get cars to slow down. As a car driver as well I get cross when some people can't thank you when you do slow down. Around here the kids are the worse riding in 2s down the road and no hi viz at all. Not once have said thank you with a nod of the head or a raised hand. They have been asked many a time to by people on the yard as it gives such a bad name to riders. Thank you costs nothing but it might just save the life of the skittering horse around the next bend.

Mine sayes "Thank you for slowing down"
In case I'm not in a position to take my hand off

I like that - where did you get that one from or is it a DIY job?!

I got told by a friend who is an equine expert witness not to wear one saying anything like "caution" as if there was any form of accident you are admitting that you/horse is some form of risk...

madness I know but there you go!

Nosey - I also have a bomber jacket style coat - mine is orange with reflective stripes, plus pink reflective boots, rein slips and quater sheet.

I like to be seen!

Mine says caution young horse and rider. It shoudln't really matter what it says but i want one that says "if you can read this you are too close" but at the end of the day high viz and reflectives when worn should serve there purpose and whatever it says on the back is simply extra detail. whenever i go on the roads me and my horse are plastered in it and when i see other horse riders not wearing any i get really frustrated
