Hi Viz tail guards

Does anyone use one and do they stay on OK. I have just bought myself a tabard with flashing lights, I feel ridiculous but if it makes me more visible I can live with it, Thinking I should put something on Che as well and as he doesnt normally wear boots and theyll probably get covered in mud anyway was thinking about the thing that goes on the tail, looks like a tail bandage. Cant really see how they stay on though, surely it would just slip down and fall off. Does anyone use one or can anyone recommend something better for the back end!!

It stays on really well, and if it is really gloomy, I attach a clip on bike light to it.

The V-bandz ones are really good. I've used them on a large number of different hoses over the last 8 yrs - and the only time I have had a problem is with one particular mare who has a very thin tail/dock.

But if I could suggest one thing...

I would ask you to use a hi vis browband on the front as well... it makes a HUGE visibility difference!

I have a V Bandz one and it doesn't stay on either. Never thought the brow bands were much good tbh unless your horse is hogged, surely a noseband would be better?

I wear a high viz/reflective hat band and the horse has hv/r breastplate and wraps for the legs.

Is there any small yoke I can attach to the end of my long schooling whip?

You can get these things now for horses head- hozhatz- look very funny but also very effective I imagine.

Thanks for the ideas. Guess it must just be pot luck whether they stay on or not then. Have just ordered a VBandz one so will let you know how it goes. I had thought about trying to find a fly veil type thingy as he wears one anyway, a little crochet job with ears so maybe the hothatz idea is worth a try. Poor Che, he will be so embarrassed going out looking all fluorescent, still if it helps to keep us safe. You know, Im riding the same places now that I did 30 years ago and I never used to give a second thought to going out of the yard, now some days I actually decide against it. Must be progress I spose
