Any recommendations for a hi vis coat for winter riding?

Ideally slightly longer length rather than bomber style, with a 2 way zip. I wear an air jacket so not too bulky either.

I have a 'workwear' type one but it's too big and drowns me. If it could be orange that would be great. Not too fussy am I!! :D

I have an Equisafety one, half price in a sale. I think it's this one but I've had it a few years so can't be sure. http://www.equinesuperstore.co.uk/e...yxhi7StPP6DjP72rh3d8YkcJ-uxn0YL9wkaApmO8P8HAQ

It doesn't have a two way zip but it's designed with flaps so it's OK to ride in.

It's not that thick or bulky but incredibly warm and it I had a criticism it is that if the weather isn't really cold it's too warm. Mine is Pink but I think they come in other colours too. Sizing comes up small though.

I have an equisafety one but went for light weight. When it's cold I wear it over something but so far it's fine this year with my normal clothes underneath. It's roomy enough to wear a gilet or fleece jacket under but I can also wear it in warmer weather.

Equisafety one is lovely and warm but I found the zips are poor quality so the life expectancy of the jacket was a lot shorter than I hoped.

Best bargain hi viz jacket was an ex police riding jacket off ebay for under £10. Best length and vented zips are very long so brilliant for covering saddle etc...

Dickies safety Hi Viz wear :)

I have the mens 'bomber' ones for hacking - use both orange or the yellow.
For really grotty wet weather, I have their 'motorway' longer one which is lined. All have 2 way zips
I actually dont care what I look like when hacking, but these really stand out well.
Keep an orange one in the horsebox, just in case too
So much cheaper than 'equine-specific' coats, last a lot longer too, quite warm on a warm day tho. Fits over a BP too :)

Oh, the Hi Viz beanie can be stretched to fit over a crash hat too :D

Thanks for this FF - I remembered that my OH was nagging me about a birthday present (for me!) next week so have just ordered a new orange motorway jacket from Dickies to replace my too large yellow one! :)

Sorry to hijack the thread OP but I go along with FF on the Dickies stuff - long lasting, warm and waterproof! However, I don't care what I look like out hacking either so not the best choice if you want to look chic ;)

I have equisafety, I went for the winter one as I only wear a coat in the winter. The rest of the time I wear a tabard over whatever clothing. V-bandz do a high viz coat that looks very nice! Saw it at YHL and looks better in person than on the website :)

Thanks all :) I'm not bothered about how I look, so long as I'm bright! I don't have time to worry about that between work and a 20 month old :D

I worried a bit about the air jacket over the top, hence not wanting too bulky. I like the look of the fleece ones, but then I know I'll get rained on one day and wish I'd gone waterproof as well :D

I thought the zips looked a bit delicate but mine has actually lasted, the writing on the dropdown flap is starting to look a bit faded now 3 years on but I wash my jackets a lot as I sometimes come from work and have to use public transport and can't have anything that smells.

I saw the ex mounted police ones on ebay though not as cheap as £10 or at least not for large but they only came in yellow and that blends in a bit at certain times of the year.

I wore mine today and realised the lack of a two way zips isn't so much of a problem as there are zipped flaps on each side so it doesn't catch.

Ex police ones are yellow but the workmen bomber jackets are good in orange as had them before as well but end up with wet legs with those unless wearing waterproof legs/chaps.

Must have been lucky then with the timing as got two ex police jackets one of me with vest liner for £8.99 and one for hubby without vest liner for £7.99 but there were used not new.

Mountain Warehouse do two hi viz jackets, one is only shower proof, the one I have is waterproof. It isn't a two way zip though but I ride in mine no trouble. I've got it in two sizes so I have the option to wear a fleece or thicker coat under when it is cold. They come in either pink or yellow. I've got the pink and I've had several people stop me and ask where I got it as they can see me so well.

I like the Equisafety one - planning to get the lightweight one for next year.

I have had a Mark Todd LunaRider Ladies Jacket which has done me a few years - that's just lightweight so I use it for Spring/Autumn - but although longer than a bomber style I want something longer still now.

I had a lunarider one which wasn't padded, but well designed for riding and roomy enough for warm clothes and/or a bp underneath-had a great hood, shaped shoulders and elbows, 2 way zip, rear vents. I also had a Horseware Corrib in a hi viz but despite my first one lasting years, the second one the zip bust on day 4-very annoying.

Am I the only person who loathes riding in bomber jackets? Find them so uncomfortable.
