Rang up my wholesalers last week to order some more, and they tell me that Hibiscrub have had a manufacturering problem, and therefore the price has tripled! The retail price will now be in the region of £17.60 a bottle (think that's the 500ml size)!

Any suggestions as what to use instead!

anti bacterial cleaner from tesco, (cheaper dettol) its what i've always used, my friend had some hibiscrub and i used some when i ran out of mine but to be honest, couldnt see why she thought it was so good??!!??

it burns, don't use it. Use hexadine - it has the antibacterial properties of hibiscrub but without the scrub bit!!! Most of the stuff sold for humans contains iodine or a derivative so care should be taken with them too - 2% dilution at most.

I get hibiscrub from 2 friends. Once is a nurse the other a vet nurse so they just get me bottles of tops up when i need it failing that i get it from boots. I have always found it pricey in horsey shops.

eeek run out of salt tonight so am using a bit of hibiscrub tomorrow on some nasty wounds - didn't realise it burns; might just use cold water instead in the morning!! I find salt water works wonders as hibiscrub tends to destroy good bacteria as well as bad!!
