Looking for a bit of advice. I'm treating my horse mad girlfriend to a trip down to Hickstead for the weekend, but neither of us has gone before so it's a bit of a step into the unknown. We are flying down from Glasgow on Saturday morning so have to rely on public transport. I'd be deeply grateful if anyone could let me know the following:-

Is it easy to get a bus from Crawley/Gatwick that goes via Hickstead?

If we arrive at 1 on the Saturday, will we have missed most of the action?

Is there any chance there is a bar there that will show the Lions game for Rugby mad boyfriend (moi)?

Have we had a weather prediction yet?

Really looking forward to it. Saw it on tv last year and i'm told the weather is always nice.

Get the train from Gatwick to Burgess hill, no changes required. Then you can get the number 100 bus from burgess hill station to pulborough which goes Via Hickstead

Bus times here: http://www.compass-travel.co.uk/timetables/service_100.html

Weather seems good

arriving at 1 there will still be plenty to see but getting seats for stuff is less likely.

Don't know about pubs and that rugby game though sorry.

Thanks JessPickle. Unfortunately we may have to go via Crawley to check into the hotel.

On Saturday I think we are just going to walk about, but on Sunday I've been told we're to get seats for the Derby.

You could probably get train from Crawley to Burgess hill, would guess you'd have to change at three bridges but best to check

Derby is amazing, seats are obviously great, but if you don't you can always try and stand right by the bank which is an amazing view
