A quick post to say we were at the Prelim dressage champs at Hickstead yesterday.
They had randomly spilt the huge number of entries into 4 seperate groups. My horse came 3rd in his section of 30+ horses. (67.20%).
He went into the ride-off at the end of the day with the top 3 placed horses from the pm sections going through. Sadly he was dragged off the lorry, cantered across the field and straight into the international arena. He had no warm up (as we didn't know til last minute he was in it) and so was not settled at all. Still he got a 6th in the championship out of 60 odd horses.
It was only his 3rd dressage outing. My friend was riding him, but I am taking the ride over now so wait for the plummiting results!
We had a terrifying ordeal on the way home when a front tyre on the lorry blew out with a deafening bang followed by loss of steering. Mickey was a true star stood on the lorry for a good 90 minutes with lorries screaching past, air pumps making loud noises, and a machine gun like noise to get the bolts off the wheel. We finally got the poor horse off the lorry at 11:30pm.
Still, other than that I am very pleased.
