A quick post to say we were at the Prelim dressage champs at Hickstead yesterday.

They had randomly spilt the huge number of entries into 4 seperate groups. My horse came 3rd in his section of 30+ horses. (67.20%).

He went into the ride-off at the end of the day with the top 3 placed horses from the pm sections going through. Sadly he was dragged off the lorry, cantered across the field and straight into the international arena. He had no warm up (as we didn't know til last minute he was in it) and so was not settled at all. Still he got a 6th in the championship out of 60 odd horses.

It was only his 3rd dressage outing. My friend was riding him, but I am taking the ride over now so wait for the plummiting results!

We had a terrifying ordeal on the way home when a front tyre on the lorry blew out with a deafening bang followed by loss of steering. Mickey was a true star stood on the lorry for a good 90 minutes with lorries screaching past, air pumps making loud noises, and a machine gun like noise to get the bolts off the wheel. We finally got the poor horse off the lorry at 11:30pm.

Still, other than that I am very pleased.

Good grief, you must have gone through a few different emotions yesterday!!!

Well done for a splendid result (I know how hotly these things are contested!) & relieved to hear you're all ok after the lorry incident... Hope M had a well-earned day off today!

Well done, you must be really pleased!

Bad luck about the tyre blow out, we had one blow when we were coming back from West Wilts last year, took us 7 hours to get home in the end, was a total nightmare. (Normally a 1hr trip)

Well done and to your friend, who must have sweltered in that heat. When was your boy on, as I am not sure but think may have seen him warming up, but was watching between about 2.30 - 4ish. There was certainly a lovely coloured in the warm up that looked like your boy from your signature.

I felt for everyone as the weather was sooo hot. There were some lovely horses there.

well done

A friend of mine was up there yesterday too, she's come back with some beautiful sunburn! Will go and look at pics now!

Hiya
Yes he was on at 15:46, so he was in the warm-up for a half hr before that.
Yes poor Natalie was very hot! I'm very grateful to her for starting him off at dressage outings.....my turn now!
Did you have a horse there or were you watching someone you knew?

Oh it was your boy we saw then, he was lovely (and I'm not normally swayed by coloureds!). Didn't see his test unfortunately.

Not competing myself, but supporting a couple of fellow liveries.
