Hifi or Speedibeet?

My lad is a good doer, doesn't need a feed and I only feed him to give him his supplements.

I've always given him a small scoop of hifi lite with pony nuts and water to mush in the supplement but he's not as keen on it as he used to be and I've also been advised that HiFi lite has more mollasses in it than most people realise.

I was therefore considering switching to speedibeet instead as this seems to be more fibre based and is unmollassed. It would also be easier to hide the supplements and I know he likes speedibeet.

Would this be a good choice? Or is there another alternative to avoid weight gain but still allow me to feed?

Sounds exactly the same as my girl - lives on thin air and not much else!

She has speedibeet and Hi-Fi Good Doer just so i can get her supplements into her. Seems fine on this and isn't gaining weight.

Allen & Paige Fast Fibre is good too but my mare won't eat it! I've tried and tried but she turns her nose up at it!

My good doer has half a scoop of hifi good doer in the summer when the grass has gone down and this doesn;t seem to put the weight on, its the grass that does it. It is mint flavoured so should be quite palatable. In the winter he has hifi good doer and alfabeet, i have used speedibeet and rated it well.

Think there is something called TopChop lite that is made by Topspec, although I've never used it as nowhere near me does the Topspec chaffs!

There is also D&H Fibergy as well that may be suitable.

D&H safe and sound has little nuggets in it so he may find this interesting? Not sure on contents of sugar but it will allbe on D&H website :)

Along the same lines, something like Happy Hoof maybe?

I'd feed one of these rather than speedi-beet. You'd probably have to feed a fibre of some sort with the speedi-beet since it's sloppy (it's a technical term, honest!). I always find i make up too much speedi-beet too, and either end up throwing it, or feeding different amounts each day.

You could feed happy hoof or safe and sound on their own, and wouldn't need pony nuts, which may work out cheaper too ;)

I'd go with allen & page fast fibre, its dead easy to make up and because it soaks so quickly if you make it too wet its easy to add a little more to firm it up, they seem to love the taste too!

Thanks for the suggestions - will have a look at Fast Fibre as I really like the Allen and Page feeds - I was occassionally giving him power and performance during the summer if he was going XC but don't think I'll need that in the winter as he tends to be a bit more energetic in the colder weather anyway!

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm away to read up on some of the other feeds! :)
