So long post but here goes. Two weeks ago today my vet came out to look at my mare who was only lame in trot on a circle. He admitted her the following Tuesday and she was diagnosed with high articular ringbone. She was lame on a low level scale of 3/5. She was given a steroid injection into her joint and bute for 1 week then today she was scheduled for another steroid injection to be repeated today and once again next Tuesday.
The vet came today to inject the joint again, I explained she seems more lame, she assessed her lame at 4/5 on a moderate to severe scale. So she has deteriorated massively in a week. She is now on rest with no walking on 2 sachets of bute a day and to see how she is in 1 week.
She is on rest in a 10x10m paddock but she is sulking and digging the ground. Today she was holding her leg in the air for noticeable amounts of time.
I have put in a claim with NFU as the bill is quickly rising, wondering if they will accept the claim as it will have been existing for some time just never shown clinical signs before the policy started?
I'm no horse expert (first horse) but finding learning things quickly is needed so any help or advice would be appreciated.
