I was just wondering if there was anything to worry about here...

My normally moderately placid horse decided yesterday that lunging was quite fun and as soon as I put him into canter he started fly leaping and bucking etc. Now I find this quite funny, he's 17.1HH so he is a bit big for all this malarky! He was giving it all extended trot and tail up after that then.

Anyway I was just wondering afterwards if there is anything to be worried about with this? Because I just put it down to high spirits.

He wasnt being lunged in anything but the cavesson.

Any ideas - or do I just have a spring-fresh horse?!

My horse is always good to ride i.e. doesn't buck. On the lunge she explodes I am just always thankful she doesn't do it when I am onboard as I think I would spend more time on the floor

My pony likes to pretend to be an Arabian stallion on the lunge. She canters around with her head and tail stuck vertically up in the air, taking the most minature strides and snorting so loudly that last time my YO came running out of the house to see what was wrong!

Sounds like yours is just enjoying the Spring weather.

Don't they look awesome when they behave like that!

The grass at about this time always seems to give a lot of horses some kick! One of mine is like this - some days he's fine, other days he's hyper as hell (like yesterday, where he tanked off and was rearing all over the place! Hilarious).

Thank goodness for that!!

Yeah I do agree they do look really impressive - really free! Then he calms down again and goes back to Mr Dependable!!

Thanks guys!

Aw Murphy going mad!! Bless!! I dont think the grass will have much to do with it, theres bugger all in our field!!! Bostons the same on the lunge he goes mad, yet as you know he's placid as anything normally!!! They're best mates now by the way, poor Will has been pushed right out!!!
