I have two highlands so far both mares grey is Kincardine Fiona who is a 9 year old who im putting into foal and really would love a dun foal from hopefully. She a dream to ride just not easy to handle knows she has control with her neck if she wants to not do as she is told for vet etc. Had her for 3 years now, have done fun rides, local shows and dressage with her until she went lame and is having the winter off
this is her as a foal
Next one is my two year old filly Ella of Miltonglen who is a mouse dun at the moment who knows if she will be like that when she is older?!? Ive had her since end of april and she is such a good girl. Great with vet, farrier, dentist. Goes for walks never plays up, not scared of anything at all and loads herself into the trailer. Shes done around i think 11 shows this year with me and been placed top 3 at 9 of them, 2nd at Bath and West and Devon county show. Really want to continue showing her to a high level in the future and breed from her one day as well to continue her great blood lines. Both her and my other highland share part of their bloodline. First pic is of the local show i walked her to and she came 5th having only owned her for 2 days at this time and never walked her out of field before couldnt believe how fab she is.
Here are some photos of my lad. He's 5 now, I've had him since he was weaned. He is a real fun pony, he is very strong willed, but will try his heart out for you as long as he sees the point of what you are trying to do! He's a grey dun but is taking his time with the greying out
They are lovely. Iv bought a dun colt who's 7 months old. He stands at 12hh at the mo so what height do you think he will make? He's ment to make 14.1hh. Would post pic but don't know how
Here is my mothers Highland mare Islay, she is 7 years old and we have owned her just over 18 months now. She had bred a foal before we bought her and last year won every showing class bar one we entered her in, she qualified for many championships and although we didn't get chance to do any competing with her this year, im raring to go and compete her in 2011.... we're so happy with her and love the little mare to bits. She's a feisty little girl who is very goey and loves her work but at the same time is as honest as the day is long and exceptionally kind. Anyway, enough of me going on about her here are some photos of our little princess:
He's 12, and 13.2. And please excuse my atrocious position in all the pictures
He's the strongest horse I've ever ridden. Built like a tank, has no respect for anyone, likes to run over people.
But he's wonderful, does everything, ridiculously safe. Love him to bits.
Some of the pics are from last summer, so please excuse the chub.
Bought this boy with a friend in July and he has been an absolute superstar. Lovely nature, shown three times, 1st each time with a Reserve Champion then Champion and Reserve Supreme in Show at next show.
This was one I used to own (had him about 10 years):
I was told he was pure highland but he had no breeding papers and the odd person thought he wasn't totally pure - he wasn't quite as heavy as the usual types. I did loads of RC / PC stuff with him as a teenager. He was very well known locally and renowned for winning SJ. He pretty much won on every single outing and was unbeatable in jumps offs, not for speed but he could turn literally on landing. I remember once, he turned 90 degrees on landing once in a jump off - so quick I fell off over his shoulder! He also excelled at ODE's / XC. He competed and won regularily at intermediate level (3ft3) but just wasn't scopey enough / built to go up to open, hence why I eventually sold him (and I'd outgrown him - he was 14.2hh). Pic above was taken at the BRC National Champs at Lincoln a few years ago (a 10 hour drive each way!).
