Anyone use it? My old man has been on D&H build up for years but at £15/bag and at least one bag a week it is getting costly. Tried Pure feed last winter which started well but he is a fussy sod and went off it within a couple of months. Just looking to place a feed order and saw the Highlight and wondered if it was worth a shot? I know Bailey's make it so you would hope it is of decent quality.

I used it last year when one of my horses was very ill, I started her on it when she started to lose weight, when it didn't help I got the vet involved & she then put the weight back on after treatment.
She was also having alpha oil, boiled barley with linseed & sixteen plus.
I used the cubes as they were a bit cheaper & they were the only conditioning cubes she would eat.
So it might be good for your horse if he's fussey, as my horse became fussy when she was ill & she did like it.

Would be interested in the replies to this, I have just bought the highlight horse and pony mix to try my boy on, he will be having linseed and magnesium oxide added to this. Also been looking at the allen page fast fibre but would this be a bit of an over kill all together?

Look at the amount of the highlight you have to feed per day to get all vit/mins inside them, and the DE per bag. That will tell you if its worth it compared to the D&H.

I was feeding my horse twice a day, her morning feed was conditioning cubes with sugar beet, in the evening she had sixteen plus & alpha a oil with boiled barley & linseed.

The vet got me to weight everything & write it down for him so he could see exactly what she was having, he thought it was ok & didn't get me to change anything.

As soon as she'd had treatment she started to recover although it took several weeks to loose the Brooks Hospital look.

Thanks, so much to choose from I have no idea where to start. He had always had the special mix bought from my yard but now Im moving I need to find something else that suits him!

I agree there is so much choice it's confusing, my horses usually just get chaff & linseed plus a few extras for their feet (my 2 are barefoot)
When I had an ill horse I stuck with what I knew, boiled barley & linseed, alpha a oil & I'd used sixteen plus for an oldie before & I knew the horse in question loved it as she'd had it for a treat a couple of times.
I chose the highlight condtioning cubes as they were the cheapest I could find, as it turned out they were the only ones she'd eat, as I found out when I couldn't get them for a while.
Unfortunatelty I had to pander to her whims.
Now she's better she's back on the chaff.

Mine is barefoot too, although he has lived out since the beginning of the year with no extra feed. However we will be moving yards next week where he will be in at night so would like to give him a little something extra. I have bought the highlight mix, will adding the magnesium and linseed be enough or should I add extra fibre in the shape of fast fibre?
