Highs and lows of your season

Not a bad season for me, bit short tho due to getting married in May and then all my June and July BE's rained off!

Highs:
Placed in 5 out of the 6 events we entered. 2 intros and 3 PN.
laugh.gif

Finally gettting 2 double clears at PN (SJ is an issue...mine not horse!) in last 2 events
Finding a fab jump trainer who has given the confidence to get our act sorted out and move up to PN.
Significant improvement in ponios feet, no lost shoes during the season!
laugh.gif

Lows:
Cricket score in Sj at 1st PN when I was lying 2nd after Dr
Ill health.....but I didn't let it get in the way of my competitions
wink.gif
, did a PN 5 days after being in hospital!!
Bl**dy weather in June and July
frown.gif

Not too bad a season really, putting it down in writing makes me apprecaite how lucky I am!!

wink.gif

Hector winning ON on his first outing after such a long time off. Then him doing a double clear at Weston** and feeling so happy and so confident.

Ross qualifying for British Breeding champs and BYEH finals, and behaving himself at both! Then going round his first novice like he'd been doing it all his life.

Ross generally being such great entertainment value all year (never a dull moment), with never a backward thought or saying no to anything I asked of him.

The birth of Myrtle, our One More Tiger foal, and her being just what I'd hoped for: a bay filly to start my breeding programme when I'm old!

LOWS:

Losing our other One More Tiger foal at birth and then her mum a couple of days later.

Hector always trying to malinger with silly little problems that completely stressed me out.

Literally......being rolled all over the first PN xc fence at Moreton Morrell and it taking me 6 weeks to feel "normal" again (not by one of my horses, I hasten to add!)

Highs
Getting 4 novice clears
Being placed 3rd at PN and finishing on dressage score of 28
Being placed BSJA
Jumping round 1.10 open BSJA
Realising how fab my horse is xc

Lows
Being eliminated SJ after a fab dressage of 34 at first novice
Technical elim at WW after an ok dressage and 4 SJ at novice
Dressage getting worse from 28 to 44 due to naughtiness

Highs: finally qualifying for our first novice regionals and giving it a good bash and enjoying the day eventhough we didn't get placed. Moving up to elementary and coming second at the area festival in our third attempt at elementary. Just seeing how she is getting stronger and improving all the tmie and loving learning all the new stuff as we move up the levels. Molly staying sound and healthy.

Lows: A few forgotten tests where I have let myself down. Molly acting like a 2 year old at Brook Farm last month! Not qualifying for winters but not too bothered so it isn't really a low.

It seems to have been a year of extremes!

Highs (All with Sarnita)
Coming 8th at Sansaw CIC** and beating Spring Along
Completing our first CCI** and travelling abroad for the first time finishing 16th
Getting shortlisted for the CIC** European Championship GB Team

Lows
Breaking my leg and ankle at Stockland Lovell in July and facing the possibility it will never be the same again and waiting to see what it is like in a year when the extent of recovery or not will become apparant
Missing out on possible selection to the CIC** team due to my injury
Only running Sarnita 4 times due to hard ground and my injury.

Moon coming out this spring a different horse, acing her first PN and then having some really good runs at novice level

Lows-
Me making the same pilot error on two important courses- Smiths Lawn and Gatcombe

Thank you - yes, he is a very beautiful boy and does look in another class in his dressage at events
smile.gif
, we are very proud of him.

Highs
Getting Flash!
Getting placed every time out unaff SJ
Winning his first time out at showing and SJ
moving yards

Lows
Having no transport and only getting out to 4 shows in the last year
frown.gif

Flash being lame for nearly 2 months
frown.gif
frown.gif

First lots of winter SJ! He didn't have a hard season eventing so doesn't really need a proper holiday. And he will probably go out soon Adv Medium. No plans next year yet, will see how the winter goes first
smile.gif

Highs-
Getting our second ever DC at Mattingley Intro and coming 6th.
smile.gif

Finally cracking our 37 'itus' in the dressage and getting 25.5 at Tweseldown in Oct, v clever pony(would have been 24.5 if i hadn't of made a mistake)
grin.gif

Having a whole year with a sound horse after a few years of problems (fractured elbow, bruised soles, back problems to name but a few)
grin.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif

Really starting to crack the curse that is SJ'ing, came ind 5th and team 2nd in the equitation at the RC area qualifier..
smile.gif

Lows-
YO losing her old boy in Aug and ikkle pony earlier this week..
frown.gif

Competely losing control in the SJ at Tweseldown after amazing 25.5 dressage, no flash strap (cut on chin) + horse that is not that careful in the SJ anyway and does not really respect 'orrid plastic poles = 5 down and 2 time faults.. decided not to go XC..
Pony not feeling right in himself on the XC at Great Tew and having to pull up at fence 4..

Sounds like people have had a very up and down year!
Highs for me and Maiden: coming back with a rosette nearly every time out at unaff prelim with my cart horse.
High for me and Cookie: winning our first and last competition, classical riding club novice level dressage test - my first first rosette!
Lows: being told I may never get to ride Maiden again (and all associated lows relating to her injury!), having to give up riding Cookie, and now I'm just about to go out and have my last ride on my other share horse as she's leaving on Sunday
frown.gif

Highs- clear xc at first three events, inc a DC. placed at unaff tweseldown.
Lows-that was the end of my season (IN MAY!!!) due to injury, had entered the last tweseldown but a bruised sole meant we withdrew.

Highs:

Finishing 2nd in the I.D. Championship at the Festival 2007 and then having the judge tell me "He is priceless, I'm sorry but I'm afraid we will never find you another one like him"

June2007.jpg

Lows: Decided after a rocky year to just enjoy him this year so we dont have any lows
grin.gif

This is a good thred

Highs

Winning 1st working hunter after long lameness layoff with my converted SJ'er!! Finding my new horse after endless searching, and enjoying his enjoyment of working and trying very hard to learn new things

Lows

Long long lay off with lameness over the summer. with no second horse to play with.

Lying lying ungenuine "people" selling horses. " oh no its never crib bitten with me" Not.

Put all that behind me now and enjoying 2 lovely boys who love working and sulk when they're not the one to be ridden that day. (grins)

Highs:

6th and 2nd at Area Festival
Lots of competitions and doing a bit of elementary
Loaning Winston
Going to Manor Farm with Jo - really good fun!

Lows:

Finnus having colic and a heart murmur
Finnus being a total idiot at Wix, rearing and scratching a car -cue being reloaded and taken home.

Really looking forward to getting my new lorry and getting finnus and Winnie out to play
grin.gif

Highs:
Getting to do at least the dressage at necarne. Moving up to novice and all clears xc, only blip due to my steering... Generally getting to grips with my boy.

Lows:
Running into a tree due to said rider error, poor poor horse and a worrying few days. Coming a cropper at the last awkward fence at necarne and not completing, still makes me feel physically sick at the thought.

Strange season for me

Highs:
Trading my horsebox for a little 3.5 ton that I can manage all on my own ! Finding an excellent trainer practically on my doorstep, and finally managing to get a BD entry in (doing the Novice at Croft Top next week - although hope I havent jinxed it saying that ...)
grin.gif

Lows :
Foolish horse thundering around on the hard ground in May and being lame with bruised feet practically all summer. Hopefully all behind us now..

Highs - there were a few this year!
Completing our 3rd residential showing camp without any major disasters
Toby doing his first shows with Addy

Buying half of Dinger and then him winning the RIHS coloured class in his first season of showing and coming second at HOYS by only one mark to So Smart

frown.gif

Season hasn't really ended for sjing...but...

Highs: Finally having the money and support to get a horse capable of jumping up to foxhunter and in seven months going from jumping unaffliated 2'6/2'9 to jumping discovery and newcomers.

Getting round my first newcomers was a massive boost!

Lows: My inconsistency, going from jumping DC's and 4 faults to getting eliminated the next time out.
Getting eliminated at the first fence at Keysoe a few weeks ago.
Battling with my self confidence and nerves.

QR: What a year! If we had to vote who had the best year I think it's a close run thing between carthorse, bananaman, and FMM. What amazing acheivements!

My own highs:

Getting married to a wonderful man!
Liberty - a revelation throughout the year (his first of BE), finished 8th at Gatcombe CIC* and feels ready for Intermediate early next year, but will be trying bloody hard to qualify him for the Novice champs first as I think he's born for it.
William - finishing 2nd at Firle, jumping clear sj in 5 out of 8 events, 14th at 6yo champs behind some not inconsiderable names, beating Liberty in the dressage at Gatcombe!
Deco - giving birth to Missy, a ball of fun!
Fabulous - getting placed 3rd in his first Medium against the odds with his loanee

Lows

Not many really! Was sad that Deco lost her Calypso d'herbiers embryo, but the way she looked a month ago maybe it's best that she isn't carrying a foal this winter. General frustration with William's dressage. Realising that next year is my last to ride in AU25 clases and I don't have a horse for it! But I really don't have much to complain about, I've had my best season ever.

PS. Tempi - I must show you a picture of William's head - he's got huge horn lumps!
