so what cars can go round but horses have to squeeze into the bushes....riding double makes drivers pass you wide enough when your alone the just squeeze past
 
The Highway Code is not Law, accepted that some parts of it are but most parts are not. It is more for guidance. Unless it actually becomes law I would not worry too much about it.

It's bad enough already with miserable brainless drivers shouting out of their car windows for you to ride single file - if it's in the highway code it will only make things worse! Why is it the government always sides with the majority, whether it's right or wrong? They build all over our bridlepaths and fields - they should be helping to make roads safer for riders, not more hazardous! I agree some riders can be ignorant, but so can some drivers - this is ludicrous!

Is there a petition or something that we can all sign anywhere?

This is gonna be downright dangerous! Most people only ride 2 abreast for safety reasons, not just to chat to their mates as many motorists believe!
