You know how young horses can make you look like you can't ride? Well here's proof that I am truly rubbish as highlighted by Tino and Marty - thanks boys.

Marty, demonstrating his unique style over a fence which mainly involves him running off into a fence with his head in the air and then putting his ears in your mouth.

Disclaimer: No back teeth were removed in the making of this event horse.

And to anyone I teach, it is most definitely a case of do as I say not do as I do.

Oooherrrrrrr N, Marty could do with looking were he is going a bit, other than at the sky
crazy.gif
Both are very nice horses though and we shouldn't forget that they are only babies and have to start somewhere. Think you look a darn site better than what I would

Tino's first X one and Marty's last one are OK. That's quite an ask jumping a fence into water for a baby!

They do both look a bit 'upside down'. Can we blame it on first-time-out-itis?
tongue.gif
Your position seems to be pretty much impeccable, despite the antics underneath you!

LMAO

grin.gif
Looks like you had a fun day
wink.gif
I'm loving your expression as you go into the arena on Tino - you look so happy
smile.gif
Would have like to have seen one on the way out
cool.gif
Going in on Marty you look a bit more
crazy.gif
but he seemed to cope well other than sticking his head in your face
wink.gif
Bl**dy hell, the XC looked a bit serious for a little unaff pre-season play, that was quite a jump into water for a green horse, not to mention the roll-top to steps down.... Or maybe my eye is completely out having not been out for so long - was planning to go and jump a Fox tomorrow and just decided to change to the BN

I like the first xc one of Tino.
I'm sure they'll improve hugely and we will see 2 very different horses later on in the season, it's hard to ride nicely when theyre so green but seems that you got the job done!

Thanks everyone, but after last weekend I was happy just to stay on board.

barbaraNcolin - maybe they'd been warned to look out for Kermit the Incredible Swimming Frog?

wizoz, it was probably a bit early in their education for them to be out competing but it's so local and such a nice event I thought why not. As you say, you've got to start somewhere.

Gamebird, they are both upside down and both v opinionated, so it's taking a while for the Baydale Way to sit well with them.

TD I was grinning when I came out too, as it was such a huge ask for him and only his second time round a course. The roll top on the bank was in the Open, not the Int, but the one into the water was a bit

, hence why Marty went in so deliberately.

Starbucks, nothing to write home about......but there's a report on page 2 of here.
wink.gif

they are fab, those babies look like they were all over the place, but you rode them so determindly they had no choice but to do as they were told! great stuff!

Does look like a stiff ask for an unaff.

well done you and the babies
smile.gif

Ah thank you for the timley reminder as to why I don't jump
grin.gif
Now matter how good the rider the ponies can still do weird and wonderful things.
AS others have said T's first XC and M's last one both look lovely.

Some interesting ones

But CRIKEY Tino can jump

And we love Smarty

Oh yes, there's no doubt that they can both jump, but it's the inbetween the jumps bit ie. that other 95% that I'm struggling with.

T_H, no it's not wrong, but I didn't want to hear from KatB that one of Bruce's horses kept that style right up to 1.25m tracks. Should I buy a gumshield do you think?
crazy.gif

Learning, KatB? If only they were. It feels more like they're teaching me something but I'm so stupid I haven't worked out what yet.

Oh bless them, there are some crackers in there. It'll be great to look back at them when they're more experienced.

Am jealous of your position and lower leg, mine doesnt look that good on a horse thats jumping normally let alone on some of those funny jumps.
smile.gif

Really well done seeing as they have not been jumping long!

Where is there next party?

Really interesting to see what the "jump" of each horse "does" to your position.

My new (ish) horse has completely changed my jumping position compared to my last event horse (same saddle so no excuse there). I cannot seem to keep my bum in the saddle and stick it in the air (A liitle like you on a couple but I am much worse!!! and I look down). Any tips?????

ooo baby horses they are lovely- for the photographer arent they!!! Still with all their baby alkwardness, its nice to see them nursed round with confidence, even if you have to chew on the odd ear from time to time!!! Like them both, but do really like the chestnut, hows that bred??(sorry to digress) !!

Sorry but first thing I noticed was the Ambulance waiting! Tino much prefers xc to those coloured things!
Marty! Love the one of him landing in the water he's like "It's wet & splashing me!" Holding his NH right up & looking down!!

I am sure they will come on leaps & bounds literally! With Baydale Boot Camp LOL!

And another saying for you, to make you feel better.. "good horses make good jockeys"
wink.gif

Horsemad12, when their canter is better ie. rounder, their jump should be the same so I'll be able to stay closer to the saddle (or that's the plan)! I ride out of the saddle when I jump so I seem to have been pinged out even more with the awkward jumps as I was trying not to interfere - much as the photographic evidence says the contrary.

I'll be going to training shows at Arena UK every week I think, but no plans for BE quite yet.

pinktiger, oh yes, I'll chew ears or whatever it takes to turn them into eventers.

Tino, the chestnut, belongs to GT_02 and is by Jessop Lovely Boy out of a TB mare,. I'm guessing he's taken after his mum and his dad was a Belgian warmblood:
