Today my horse had a fight with anouther in the feild. when she came out the feild she had a soft swollen fetlock-with no heat. at the back top of a back leg fetlock. she is not flexing her fetlock, and stands with the weight on her toe. she is lame in walk, but will walk. she can be a bit of a drahma qween, so ive left her in tonight to check tomorro. has any one had any experience like this? what did it turn out to be? or can anyone take an educated guesse? thanks

tbh if she had a scuffle with another.could have pulled something trying to get out of way.....i wouldnt worry to much if no heat,if you have bute to hand maybe give her a sachet or two over next couple of days,if not turn out as normal...expect her to be stiff if she been in all night, but give her at least 3/4 days before calling vet,if no better after 4th day call them!!
All they will say is rest and bute, especally if nothing obvious!!
My friends horse has just had this from assing about in the field,it has taken 2 wks but it has gone down now

,he wasnt lame but he not a wuss!!

I'd agree with Hadfoss. My OH's mare has exactly the same symptoms at present, and the vet suggested a pulled tendon or ligament. In addition to daily bute, we have been advised to give a little extra support to both rear legs, and so we have been bandaging during the day and using magnetic boots over night.

My OH is a teacher and she says something always happens at the start of the school holidays
