I know this topic is being done to death at the moment. But wanted some feed back as to what symptoms others had, who have not had their horses scoped (as I know scoping does not reveal hind gut problems). My boy has always been a little stressy ie when left in at turn out time, will box walk and not settle. Also wind sucks stable door after short feed and if given treats in stable (although not if given celery as a treat! - me thinks sugary treats is the trigger.) about two years ago I changed his diet and he now has two short feeds of Spiller Light Balancer, Dengie Hifi Molasses Free, Alfa beet, garlic and Hack Up bespoke calmer and digestion supplement and Hack Up Bespoke Joint Supplement. Good quality Ad lib hay and at least 6 hours turn out.

He has always seemed rather lazy in his ridden work, I often get as ginger in the face as he is in colour! He seems to take umbrage at certain parts of the school and often will spook and I always thought that this was his way of saying I can't be arsed and you can go take a hike. I am not the worlds most confident rider and used to give up schooling at this point (but not over the last six months or so! - maybe I am gaining in confidence,) But lately I am of the opinion he may actually be in pain and this is his way of telling me. I am going to be doing a 3 day course of the Calming Cookies to see how that pans out, but I am told that they may not have any effect if he does have gastric discomfort.

Thank you for taking the time to read this novel and on that note any experiences and thoughts on what I have written would be greatly received. The price of the Gastro Plus is not to be taken likely etc, etc, etc.

I've used Gastroplus and found it excellent. My horse had been injured and then moved yards and after this was v stressy in his stable, started weaving at the age of 19 having never had a vice in his life and was stressed about eating. He has been on a no sugar, fibre only diet for years but suddenly started worrying about eating. He would also be clammy in the mornings. No calmer seemed to work but it was explained to me that if he did have ulcers the calmers wouldn't be absorbed so wouldn't work. I didn't have him scoped as I didn't want to put him through it and you can't scope into the hind gut anyway. I thought I would try Gastroplus as a months pouch costs the same as one weeks worth of Gastroguard and it is all natural. I'm so glad I did as he hasn't looked back so plainly did have ulcers and he is now on the gut maintenance.

I did get mine scoped but he was sluggish, generally very uncomfortable, he would snap when I touched him in the girth area and would crib non stop.

I have used GG and its worked wonders, the other option is Rantidine, my vet has said if he shows any more signs I can put him on that and its cheaper.

There is also a website in america that has been confirmed to be very good, look up Abler.
