I have had ny horse on loan now for about 4 months.

Originally she didnt have hind shoes on, but after about 3 months her feet had grown enough so that my farrier could get hind shoes on.

She has now had her hind shoes on for nearly 5 weeks and is due to be shod next week. However, my YO rode her out for me twice this week and she has started to 'kick' herself with her hind legs, and has now cut the heel of one of her hind legs. Not sure whether it is just because her feet have (finally!) grown a bit!

She normally brushes quite a lot, so I ride her with brushing boots all around. However, I think I am going to have to put something different on her behind.

Any idea what boots would be suitable to protect her heels?

Thanks in advance.

Look at her from behind as she walks away from you to see where she is moving close. If it is below the fetlock you could try an anti-brushing ring (some people call it a sausage boot) so she kicks that and not herself. Mention it to your farrier too, he may be able to help.

My pony did that and wears PE combi boots (made for front legs but fit hind too) they took a little bit of getting used to but now she's fine.
