Hello any advice on this welcome pls
My horse has a history of ulcers
He has a very mild symptom which is difficult to explain to the vet as he only does it on occasion but his right hind leg jerks/gives way on occasion, particularly if he has been stood around for a while
Any idea what this could be - he shows no other symptoms like lameness

That really does sound like a sticky patella , my little cob does it all the time. It's like a jerk or a click, his currently doing fine with it but it is a case of building he muscle through consistent work and then maintaining it. It's very common in young horses and can show up and then vanish as they mature.

It could be mild shivers, the horse will jerk the leg, usually hind, hold it up and it may shake. It can happen when you lift the leg above a certain point, hence when the farrier lifts it it may happen. This can be degenerative.

If the jerk happens in walk it could be a stringhalt.

Hope that helps.
