Quick question as unable to google atm. Horse is known for having strange bridle lameness only when 4-5 strides into medium trot and it is never seen any other time even when stretching loose into mediums. Sound through all laterals and pretty even. Anyway, lesson Sat we used trot poles to really stretch him and get even strides without cantering. Finished that exercise, just trotting normally when he trips, overreaches and goes lame. Pull up, hop off and find he has whacked some old scar tissue on his heel from previous collapsed heel and million abscesses. Kiss it better, trots up fine sonhop on and finish lesson, horse 100% fine, if anything feels best yet. Turned out on return, has funny 5 mins then settles, has a couple of hours out then in until i come to ride this morning to find he has a hottish hock with swelling round the fetlock and general fat leg. Hop on for gentle walk to remove swelling as shows no pain in it. Sound in walk, have a diddy trot, also sound and bright, keen etc. I know him when sore and he isnt nice. Swelling had also mostly gone when i get back but still hot. Dont want to turn out, got 2 on box rest already from pulls. Would you consider PSD or just think knock? He has already done a front suspensory 2009, check ligament 2011 and had 5 months off this year with virus hence i tend to jump to worst scenarios!

The proximal suspensory is iirc not known for causing heat and swelling when injured as it's concealed behind bone. That doesn't mean it's not a different part of the suspensory, though.

I'd probably want him seen by a vet if he were mine, esp as he has a history of suspensory issues. Hopefully it's nothing though!

Thanks, heat going down already, taking him to stand in the village bourne tomorrow as we may as well use some of this excess water to our benefit and the water is just over hock level.

As above, there's not normally heat and swelling with PSD, swelling over the fetlock area is common with suspensory branch injuries though. Mine has PSD in all 4, his legs are as clean as a whistle.
