Hind shoes getting pulled off by another horse - any ideas ?

My horse Squiggles lost one hind shoe last week which my lovely farrier put back on the same day and then on Sunday he came in from the field with the other hind shoe twisted. My farrier has just left and said that there is no way my horse has done this to himself as the outside of the shoe was twisted which he couldn’t physically do to himself.
The guilty party is most probably his fieldmate who is often seen walking into the back of Squiggles rubbing his head along his back in a friendly adoring but fairly irritating manner!
Last night Squiggles went out quite happily with overreach boots on all four legs which I will continue with but I wondered if anyone had any previous experience of said problem and how you managed it. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
 
I had this trouble but only when she had Palmer extensions on her shoes, for suspensory support. Is there anything the farrier can do to shoe differently?
It sounds like they're a cute pair together so it would be a shame to have to split them up, which I guess is another option.
 
Thank you barefoot is not an option for me I love my hacking too much. The bridlepaths around here are fairly stony he is 1/2 tb and has got a bit picky over the ground as he has got older. There is nothing special to his shoes so I don’t think we can change too much there. Overreach boots all round is an easy option and though he walked very strangely at first he has come to terms with them very quickly ?
 
Mine wears overreach boots all around. Mostly to protect him from himself ? but I'd give this a shot in your situation too. Cheap and easy thing to try!

FWIW, I have found the pull on rubber ones don't rub. Usually everything rubs this horse.
 
Overreach boots all round. When mine was shod all round he often went out with them on and I do think he was the one wanging they off ??
