Yes several advanced eventers I've heard of have gone on to compete at top level after the procedure..including the euro champs! Its a very very common condition among lots of performance horses, some horses get theirs done as 5 y.o and go on rising up the grades in SJ and eventing for many years afterwards with no problems.
Its so common that the FEI has had to write in their rule book that they will allow horses to compete if theyve had this particular surgery.
It's lovely hearing all this. I am still at the stage of wondering if I'll ever ride my horse again, op was only done last Thurs, this is giving me great hope x x x
You may be confusing things with general denerving.
De-nerving of the suspensories is completly different because only one or two nerve branches in the supensory are cut. The horse can still feel pretty much everything as normal.
My previous horse had this done - he had it in both hinds and it was very mild. He is now jumping better than ever, passed a very tough 5 stage vetting. So depending on how severe the problem was in the first place I understand the prognosis is generally very promising.
