Hind Suspensory shoes - are they worth it?

Hi

Anyone invested in hind suspensory shoes? Thoughts on whether they had a positive impact welcome.

Mine has been diagnosed with a small tear very high in her suspensory where it attaches to the bone.. vet has suggested these shoes along with a load of other stuff, they look pricy but as i seem to have caught the problem early i am keen to fix it thoroughly and effectively.

Wondering if these are worth a try or not value for money?

I have no advice I am afraid but will follow this thread as my horse did his hind suspensory earlier this year and I was never told about such a thing, out of interest what other treatments were you offered ?
 
Alf had a couple of cycles in Jim Blurton Hind Sports Bar shoes, and it made a big difference to him. He didn't do well in raised heels, but the support provided by these ones was what he needed at the time. He now varies between normal hunter shoes and no shoes behind

Pinkyboots - it's only a small tear but either box rest or turn out in a pen, controlled walking twice a day for six weeks building up the time and 4 X shockwave therapy. Was given option of operation but I feel like I have caught this early enough to try and fix it without surgery. She wasn't really lame just unhappy in canter - ultrasound has spotted the problem, confirmed by blocking. Anyway rescan in six weeks and if ok start to reintroduce trot
 
Hi - my mare has a slight tear to her hind suspensory in January (caused by lymphangitis rather than impact damage). She had the cartrofen injections, strict box rest for 6 weeks and advised to try the eggbars on her hind feet (previously she only had normal shoes on her two fronts with nothing on her back). Not sure if the shoes you are asking about are the same thing???

My farrier and the vet are good friends and worked closely to see what was the best thing for her - she's had eggbars on all year and only this month have we taken them off but replaced them with all round normal shoes (front and rear). I don’t know how much it’s helped but I can only say she is recovering extremely well.

Like I said earlier, she was on 6 weeks box rest, followed by another month of being turned into a very small area whilst I mucked out with my other mare. I was then told to start hand walking her starting with 10 mins leading up to 30 mins a day … pffftt this didn’t happen as by this time my lazy chilled out TB had turned into a monster and got dangerous … we then went onto being turned out for an hour each day for another two months increasing the time to all day and in at night … and now shes back out full time. Im currently hacking her out as and when we both can be bothered – once a week and increasing the walking time each day. She has been scanned every 2-3 months and the vet is very surprised with how well it is going and that she’s doing a lot better than expected.

The important thing is time. Luckily shes a happy hack so that’s good for both of us.
