Hind XC Boots

I really need to get some hind XC boots pretty sharpish now!!

I had full set of NEW and really happy with them, lent them to friend when Bud was lame - hind set came back with splits in lining!! Got another pair but they were 'leather' covered...... and not happy with them seem to slip and just not stay in place.

At BETA i spoke with Delmar and was really impressed with their boots and apparently they have redesigned the hind for a better fit.....

Anyway advice please? Are Delmar any good? Or any recomendations of other makes???

I like the prolite hind event boots personally,

I like Style Boots - not everyones cup of tea, and I did use them with tubigrips underneath but they worked well for us.

I saw some ppl in Prolites in the clinic at the weekend and the hinds seem to slip.

I wear them on fronts but wear Sabre hind leather event boots as they dont slip at all and have excellent protection

Ive hunted in the PRolites and neevr had a problem if they are done up properly

I like prolites, of have a look at the Premier Equine ultimate ones, cheal, kevlar and with tendon/cannon bone guards.

The Ultimate PE ones are the same as Woof Wear ones and they slip....

i dont like hind prolites, i have never found that they fit, and have ahd slipping problems
i have some premier equine hinds, that are good, excellent cannon bone gaurds, fit nicely, and good value for money.
i dont think by saving the pennies you are reducing protection either, they really are nice boots

I have prolite hinds and Woofwear fronts. Both are fab and stay put just fine (on my horse anyway!).

I did have WWear back ones (which are the same as the premier equine ones) too but they did slip quite badly.

I like Prolite so maybe this is good option.... do they come in different sizes? what size has G got?

My prolite hinds slipped the first time I used them, but have been fine since, wouldnt use anything else

They come in Medium or large. Goddy has Medium, which is fine but would be tempted to gte large next time as Goddy has uite alot of bone!! Bud would be fine in Medium as he is a tad smaller than Goddy, and G's are fine, just a fraction too small around the leg. Alot of people dont realise how tight they need to be I think....

ooo it's a mind field! my original NEW hind boots didn't slip they were lightweight comp ones maybe should get some of those?

maybe thats why these leather NEW ones slip as they're bit too big? i do do them up tight but don't want them over tight - do you really crank them tight then?

Goddy has been wearing those infront for schooling. I like them, but dont think they are as protective against knocks as prolites....

I've got a friend with Dalmars & he wasn't impressed with the fit, but these would have been the old fit.

I love my Prolites, but will probably get DA the Premier Equine ones for now.

How tight do you do the hind prolites up? I have mine snug and seem ok, but just curious...

I dont crank them too tight, just do them like normal brushing boots, doing up from top strap first, and then when all done up, work from bottom upto top pulling the straps a bit tighter. so they "fit" around the leg, as first doing up doesnt generally "mould" them to the leg?!!

which PE would you recomend there seems to be quite a choice - air cooled? Ultimate? Extreme?

I would also recommed PE, i opted for the air-cooled and i'm very impressed with them. the extremes also look good, cant quite remember how i decided between the two lol, but yep they give alot of protection and i've had no troubles with rubs or slipping.

my 16.1 sports horse, who is quite a chunky guy (in my siggy) has large prolites (front) and large PE (behind) the large PEs are fine, i dont think their products come up big or anything- just normal sizes

I have NEW for front, Sabre leather for behind.

....although dont "do" XC these days

I asked a similar question a while ago as have prolites for fronts and wanted some nice backs. peaches and cream said get the PE extreme large and I did and I really like them for Flynn. He likes to be able to 'move' in his boots. Haven't done xc in them yet, but pleased at the mo.
Have used Dalmar in front and they were excellent, but cr*ap fit on Flynn, so couldn't wear them, then on Titus they aren't long enough but otherwise fit perfectly so they got given to the 3yo!!!!

I think u have to keep looking and find the boot which fits your horse, as they are all different!!

it's such a mindfield and i haven't endless money to buy and try for fit as you really need to use them XC to ensure they are suitable!!
The guy on Dalmar stand was actually an event rider and was so informative and they looked so good but now i'm worried - i could also get them trade price i reckon so cost not a problem - i just want best for Budsie!!! maybe look at Prem Equine site again...... or prolite!!

Is there any one near u that u could ask to try, for fit wise??? Thats often the best thing!!! If u were closer to me I'd happily lend u them, but Devon is a bit far!!!
