Hi

I have just bought a Torsion GP for a very hard to fit and constantly changing mare who has been through 5 saddles in a year.

After 1 ride it seems to be great for her as her stride is a lot more free and she is lovely and relaxed in it. Most other saddles restrict her large shoulder and as she has a long stride tend to move backward and forward a bit.

However, i need some tips on how to get used to riding in it and any other thoughts or things people found when using them to start with, like girthing arrangements and padding. I did seem to move about a lot more than in a treed saddle (usually I am pretty still) and was inclined to slouch rather than having good posture (usually sit alot better). I am determined to ride well in it for the horse's sake but how? Does it just take a while to get used to it?

Thanks

Hiya, Ive been riding in one for years now, and they do take a bit of getting used to!
I found I couldn't keep such a correct position. My legs tend to be further forward and, as you say, slightly slouchy, but not tooooo bad!
The main thing it took me a while to get used to was feeling like I was sitting farther away form my horse, if you know what I mean! As you need to use a correct pad, it felt like there was rather a lot of padding and saddle between me and her.
Other than that though, I really do love my Torsion!

I can't help but an interested to hear replies. Have just bought a Solution Treeless second hand and am finding it really difficult to keep a correct position. I suspect I haven't got it set up properly and am waiting to have an agent from Solution come and look. Could take a bit of getting used to though.
