Hi All,
I recently fractured the femoral neck in my left hip due and had it repaired with two cannulated screws. Not riding related unfortunately a stress fracture from running.
Would love to hear others experiences about recovery and getting back to riding as there is little medically documented.
I event and would also be interested to hear how long it took to progress from hacking to schooling to jumping to eventing.
Any inspiration and wisdom welcome!

Couldn't read and run but no direct experience although a good friend fractured her hip in a hunting accident last year. She also had it repaired similarly to you, I believe. My best advice is don't rush your recovery and get good physio. If like my friend you are off your feet for 12 weeks, ie not weight bearing on the affected side, you lose a lot of strength and muscle tone (especially if you are a bit older). Be kind to yourself, take your time and invest in your recovery. Good luck, Ihope it all goes well for you.

I helped a middle aged man return to riding after a nasty hip break, pinned and plated.

It was about 6 months before he could walk well, but to be honest, once he returned to riding it was not as slow progress as I thought it would be. We did be extra careful not to initiate a preventable fall, but within a couple of months he was jumping and riding back at his previous level.

I think it was less a year from injury to riding at previous level and it was a very nasty break.

Thanks both for sharing your stories. It is reassuring to know others have been through similar journeys to recovery.

Would also be interested to know if anyone has used the arcequestrian / arc4sports microcurrent products to help with the healing process?
