I have been reading alot about these bits, I am hoping a Hippus might be the answer to my prayers 🙏 - I have tried umpteen bits with my mare but she doesn't seem to like any of them! - nathe, mullen, NS, Myler etc, she is up to date with teeth, back, saddle etc. She won't take a contact and tends to curl up behind the bit, head down and in towards her chest, mouth chomping. I asked the dentist about her mouth conformation and he said excellent teeth, nothing untoward, average size tongue, not a particularly low palate, nothing there to explain why she doesn't like bits. I have tried her bitless which she much prefers but then if I am in company or she has a 'Welsh' moment, I have very little control/brakes, I feel she is better in a bit, if I could just find one she is comfy in.

Does anyone know of a UK stockist for Hippus, better stilll a place that trials them? Would love to try one before buying as they are hideously expensive which I don't mind if it sorts the problem but it's a big IF and could end up in my already extensive collection ..

I have a hippus which I do tend to use on every young horse though annoyingly not dressage legal. I love mine. They don’t seem to be around much since the FEI won’t sanction them.

That's a shame, I wonder not. Out of interest, is yours the loose ring which I think is the H510 or the eggbutt H1000?

Eggbut - I just love it as a bit. I had one who leaned on it after a while but I am happy to swap once they are taking the hand forward

I have one and it is super for getting young horses confident and forwards in their contact.
Lovely, simple, design.
