his vis RANT!

Last weekend I actually stopped two people riding at dusk on a narrow country lane who were not wearing high vis and pointed out that I wouldn't see them from my car as the light was so poor. No idea if they took this on board.

orange horse but we take risks with our horses everyday travelling them, competing them etc, all that every person can do is weigh up the risks and make a judgement for themselves given the conditions that surround them as everyones hacking is very different.

I am the first to mention to anyone if I can't see them due to lack of hi vis.

its not actually dark when I go out and I dont think I would be out in the proper dark but its not truley light yet either, and horses are kept at home.

Well tbh I think it's amazing that you have seen riders with any hi-viz at all. I drive home on part of the route that I expect you take to get home and I FREQUENTLY see riders at dusk with no lights/reflective gear and not even any hi-viz. I cannot believe that people go out at dusk when they cannot be seen, particularly under the trees where, when the streetlights are just coming on it is very dark. These are very busy roads with speed limits of 40mph or more. An accident waiting to happen (and we've had more than our fair share of them locally already).

hmmm...its interesting that its not just around me then thats so horrendous...i nearly squished a dog before in the dark
