Hi, trying to do some history on my mare, I bought her from a family in Dumfries end of last year, but she had been on loan to a girl, Newcastle area who had other horses, She's called Bevan (Dervor Jessie on Passport) she's a 16.3 full ID, was steel Grey now mainly dapple,. lovely temprement, would love any info on her.

... and guess what, she's related to my mare! Her grandsire The Conqueror is my horse's great grandsire on her dam's side.

I've found her in the Irish Draught Mare studbook in the ID section and she's had 2 foals

I'd love to see pics of your mare

What do you do with her?

Wow, I've just looked at Cavalier Royale, he's stunning, I am hoping to put her to ID stallion, there are a couple of stunners in Scotland, but that'll not be for a year or two yet. I've been doing some prelim and some showing with her, which she's been quite successful, the old school judges love her, she looks like the old fashioned hunter type, she can jump, if she's in the right mood, more often than not I've been the one thats ended on the other side! She was a real find, I dont think her previous owners realised the potential in her, amazing what a bit of clipping, trimming and pulling can reveal!

Glad you've found a bit more info on your mare. Look forward to seeing piccies of her. Don't want to hijack your post but I'm also an ID fan. I've got an 11 YO RID by Carrabawn View out of Scartlady. Are you a member of the ID society?

Just looked at Cavalier Royale and I can't believe you can still get frozen semen from him - concidering he tragically died a long time ago

The picture of your mare is small but I can just make her out

She looks gorgeous!

It's amazing how the ID's can scrub up well

Well done in your shows and I wish you all the best with her

Mmm - but it looks like she's never been graded which is a real shame - but not iuncommon in mares sold from Ireland as 2 or 3 year olds. Her passport has been over-stamped by IDHS (GB) - DO get her graded! If you want to breed from her in the future, her progeny will NOT be eligible RID unless she's graded and best to grade her while she is sound and well - just in case!

Hi there, I too am an ID fan and have a mare in foal to an RID, due to foal in May. My mare also has King of Diamonds on her dam's side.

We want bigger piccies please!

The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will be able to let you have a list of graded and approved Stallions standing in the UK. Their telephone number is 08452 300 399. If your mare is registered and graded too then any progeny can also be registered and graded. It helps the Breed Society to ensure they all meet the breed standard and also to keep a record of how many purebreds and partbreds there are.
