Hi could anyone recommend me an air vest, after having a couple of falls lately out hacking I have realised I haven't been taking my own safety seriously enough, so I have seen both of these on the Internet and have decided to splash out, also does anyone know any places nr Wolverhampton or surrounding areas that I can go and try them.

Thanks in advance

Hit Air goes blows up outwards and Point 2 blows up inwards they are the main differences. So you would be hacking with a BP and a air bag?

No I was just going to get the vest, I know you need a bp underneath to event but I don't compete, its more for confidence issues for me at the moment. The last fall wasn't mine or horses fault but it's knocked me big time.

Personally you are better off with a BP as will at least protect you if you are kicked or trodden on which is just as likely out hacking! Air bags will not protect you from things like the above.

I have a Hit air, really happy with mine. I found it less restrictive when it inflated (because it inflated outward), it is also quieter than the Point 2. I also liked that it stays inflated for longer so provides stability. Oh & the fact that it was £100 cheaper pleased me a lot :)

Thanks, did you get yours off the Internet? or were you able to try it somewhere, def like the idea of it being quieter than the point 2. Started opening cans of pop by him lol. Knowing me , il be inflating up all over the place!

I have the Point Two and yes its more expensive but it has been the best Horsey buy Ive had. I came off recently and I could totally walk away. Its easily cleaned and I hack with it on always. I would add that I had a really bad accident a fews years back and I believe that without the Point Two my back would have "gone" again. It does go with a bang but hopefully I won't hear that too often. I wouldn't be without it. :)

I don't get this "inflating outwards" and "inflating inwards" thing, can someone explain? They both look like loose black waistcoats to me, as if they would be identical to wear.

The point two is a slightly loose fitting waistcoat so when it goes off it can expand inwards using up that space if you see what I mean. The Hit air is a more snuggly fitting garment, when that goes off it has popper compartments that expand outways.

The hit air is a teeeeeeniest bit slower to inflate, but nothing to stop it working properly. Its also cheaper and looks slightly neater to begin with.
The point two is the better known product.

I have been advised by the makers of both garments not to wear either without a body protector as if you landed on the cannister it may cause injury. Saying that I always land on my side......., or bum!!
