I am going to invest in an air jacket. One friend swears by Point 2 but another friend found the Hit Air better as it was shorter in the back so doesn't catch the back of the saddle. Thoughts anyone?

I got the Hit Air after hearing a lot of negatives about the Point 2 from friends and love it.
It doesn't touch the saddle at all and is really comfortable.

Hit Air - end of.

Cheaper, better fit, less obtrusive, inflates outwards, not inwards - love mine and I did all the research before choosing which one to buy.

I know someone who had a hit air (she was also sponsered by them). And the horse fell xc (just slipped over onto her) and the hit air didnt go off infact it totally broke.

No safety 'device' will ever be 100% effective; that is why a standard body protector should be worn underneath an air jacket. There are several reported cases of P2's not inflating either.

I have no current plans to buy either, but if I had to it most certainly would be a HitAir; there may not be much between them as far as technicality goes, but personally I find the marketing by P2 unnecessarily aggressive and verging on unethical.

What do you mean it broke?

If the horse went over with her in a rotational fall, the lanyard wouldn't have been pulled out and the air jacket wouldn't have inflated.

OP, I have the Point2 and am very happy with it- don't find it bulky at all and it has done it's job very well when it has gone off.

Wasn't a rotational. Horse slipped coming round a corner went completely down landing on riders leg (thankfully she didn't need the air jacket to go off as she wasn't injured).

Basically a bit that wasnt meant to come off came off, on the cannister bit. Did see the jacket after but cant quite remember exactly what went wrong!

Of course no safety device is 100% but just thought id mention!

Love my Point two, it fits lovely, doesnt catch my saddle and has gone off and saved serious injury in the 3 times Iv needed it to!!!! Supports your neck aswell as helping to absorb the impact/shock :)

Hit air

My sister had 2 point fell off and the bit never realised and she was dragged a fair distance under the horse till the jacket actually ripped off her back, she was pretty shaken and beat up.

2 point investigated but just came back saying it was faulty, replaced it along with her brand new Ariat boots which were wreaked in the incident.

Could of been a real nasty one
