Hit me round the head if you want...

Although he is not as thin as I first imagined, I still do not think he looks in great condition (please don't shoot me guys). I think from the angle of the photo it is not entirely obvious of how he really looks. I can see he is looking quite hippy, but I think from a more upright angle you would see this a lot more.

However, his coat looks in ok condition, but then again he is spotty which hides a multitude of sins. I know of a horse that used to be at a riding school (long long time ago) and he was spotty but had the most horrendous coat. At a distance it was not obvious at all, but up close he looked horrendous.

Perhaps Deadpan could take some more pictures to show more of his condition before we all judge this person too harshly.

Erm, how do you find a bumped post ???

I meant I'd re-read the post Deadpan initially put up about this horse.

Someone has searched for it, and replied to it in order to make it come to the top of the posting list again.

There is no way he looks as bad as was described! Don't think she is being judged harshly, more people are pleasently suprised, which can only be a good thing!

Only thing that can be judged harshly is if the horse is turned out with others, I do hope that this isn't the case.

It depends how you have your layout in your user options, you can choose to see posts in the order they were created or by the order of which posts have had the most recent responses.

to see the bumped post you want to choose the latter.

Its user options, display and prefs, then on that list.

I agree about him being turned out with others, as he looks to have a bit of a worm filled belly to me. I certainly do not think he is an ILPH case.

Hey hang on a minute. There is nothing to judge. Deadpan liked him, she bought him, end of story. No one needs to judge her or horse. Underweight, Overweight, wormy or whatever its her choice & I personally hope they have a great time together. I was relieved to see the true piccies of him but no one has the right to be judge & jury.

God now I am feeling bad, my coloured looks skinnier than that, and he is fit, working and on a mountain of food, lord help me if you walked past my house when my lad was having a naked day if you think that is an ILPH case

I am some what confused, you posted this horse was in terrible condition and an rspca case a week ago, he is nowhere near that.
Yes he needs weight and muscle and his hips stick out a little, but of course the authorities wouldn't take any notice if you asked them to, he isn't that bad!
I'm glad you have him and will have expert help, but next time before you go alerting various organisations to welfare cases, please ask someone else's opinion first, they probably felt very foolish turning up to see this horse...
There's a world of difference between him and a really starving horse..
Having said that he looks a rather nice horse, and he wasn't ridiculous price.
If he turns out too hot a ride at least you can sell him in the summer looking healthy and shiny ad still get a decent price.

Thankyou

Ah, but when we went to pick him up, there was a big pile haylage in his stall. I thought "Oh, lovely, they listened to the inspector guy." But then it turned out that he was the only one there to have access to any. He looks a bit worse in real life then in the photos, but I do realise that I over-reacted just a teeensy bit

Just looked at the original post - and must admit to being equally confused. He looks in good nick to me.

Congrats anyway on your new horse.

I suppose the main thing is, you have a new horse, hope it all goess well for you.
But you do have to be careful, you actually said a lot of bad things that could seriously damage someone's business.....

oh dear...i wonder what "fantasy island" you live on?????
confused.gif

so have you, bear with me, bought him/loaned him/had him given to you/share him/look after him for a friend/part loan.....
because i get terribly confused with the lack of continuity in any of your posts............................................

Aw.good for you..good luck with him
grin.gif

Not surprised the ILPH did nothing though.he looks alot better than I imagined but probably looks worse in the flesh

If you think thats thin, what would you call these?

Id actually say your horse is actually verging on fat. Lacking muscle and obviously out of work, but still fat.
People like you amaze me, no wonder the Ilph didnt do anything, hope they have put you on their blacklist and that you dont waste their time again.

My first reaction when I saw the title of this post was OMG nooo. But he actually looks OK, and as you have help with him I see no reason why you can't do well with him.

Good luck with your new horse, I hope everything goes OK - keep us updated.

Just read through both posts briefly....I think that DP just got caught up in the romanticism of it all....happens to the best of us!

Just hold your horses (pardon the pun) before calling IPLH out in future - calls like that probably contribute to them not taking all of us seriously alot of the time....

Good luck with the new boy - he looks lovely - going to look fab with some muscle (and less belly!) xxx
