Has anyones else's horse or pony come out in hives recently? My youngster started with what originally looked like a nettle rash on her side, this quickly developed into scabby lumps all over her head and body, the lumps are about the size of a 10 pence but some bigger and some smaller. The vet put her on antibiotics and steroids and I had to bath her in Coatex. A week after the steroids stopped the lumps came back again. The lumps are just scabby, they don't ooze anything and aren't particularly itchy although the bigger one's do seem to bother her. The vet said it's an allergic reaction to something but nothing in her management has changed? He said it could be pollen or something in the environment, none of the other horses have been affected? has anyone else's horse suffered from this and did you ever get to the bottom of what caused it?
