My cob has been very very itchy the past couple of weeks so i decided to give him a full clip and hog - he itched more when hot and i thought it would be much easier to treat any skin conditions if he was clipped
But now he has what i can only describe as hives on his chest and muzzle - his itching has actually improved - before the clip i really feared he woudl knock his stable wall down he was so frantic, i couldnt ride or do his feet he was so encumbered by the itch.
This has stopped - he is much more comfortable - but he has these hives on his chest.
Ive read so much and am now overwhelmed by what i should do - hibiscrub, benzyl benzioate, maluka honey, marmite!
I spoke to a very experienced lady at yard today asking if i should get a vet out - she says no not yet, hose him daily in this area with cold water and see what happens - to ring a vet if it actually bleeds because of infection.

Today ive bathed the area in diluted hibiscrub, put some anti itch cream on i bought from chemist and then fly spray
Now im worried ive put too much on!!!

Any experiences? tips? greatly appreciated x

Ive also thought of buying some of that "ice spray" you can buy from chemist - similar but opposite to deep heat - this stuff keeps the area chilled

Depending on how swollen it is, you may need the vet to give an injection, my horse had them all over him, was fine in a couple of days, if there hasn't been any inprovement I'd be inclined to call the vet. If his eyes are at all affected get the vet anyway

You could try NAF D-tox, this can be fed at acute times and given daily at a maintenance rate
