When I unrugged my horse this morning I noticed she had a patch of raised lumps on her shoulder which were hot to the touch. Can anyone suggest what may have caused these and how I should treat them. She has had no changes to her diet or rug.

Very sorry, I've got no suggestions. Hope they go down soon. If they're still there on Monday and appear to be troubling her then maybe speak to your vet and ask them what they think it could be. My mare has got a small swelling on the upper part of her cheeks, from what I think is the spring grass - perhaps it's 'that time of year' for 'it'. Try not to worry :)

Two horses at our yard have come up in hives just recently but then went down within a day or two, one was possibly a bit warm in her rug and the other had just been clipped, don't know if that's any help.
